Shall I extend my warranty?1.6tdi

Featured Replies

I bought my 1.6tdi Monte Carlo the end of April last year from a Skoda approved used dealer. It had 34000 miles on it and I have now done 48250. It's got full Skoda service history (4 stamps). I haven't had any problems what so ever so far, how ever my warranty is about to expire. Do you think it's worth me extending my warranty? If so which one should I get? Has anyone had any major problems with the 1.6tdi engine?

Thanks,

Tim

I would certainly give it consideration.

The one thing is though the Defeat Device Issue and you getting asked to take your car in for 'The Fix', later this year or next.

Maybe you do not want 'The Fix'.

This should not Void your Extended Warranty if you buy one because as it is Skoda are in no position in the UK to make it a Compulsory Recall.

If your car is in for a Service, they can not just do 'The Fix' without asking,

yet they do 'Software Updates' without seeking permission or pointing those out as part of a Main Dealership Service.

I think you'll find that the fix both software and hardware are optional at the minute, but in due coarse it may become a European wide recall, skoda Ireland have issued letters saying second half of the year
