Hi peeps.

Featured Replies

I have just joined this site so I'm saying hello. I must confess I've joined in the hope of gaining some info from those who must be much more knowledgeable about Skoda's than me (that would be you lot). I am on my third Favorit and the last 2 have had the same porblem with the heating. The engine temperature seems to fluctuate a bit and the heater does seem to pump out hardly any heat. There is plenty of water in the cooling system and its in good condition. There is nothing wrong with the water pump and the engine/heater matrix has no leaks. My last Favorit did exactly the same thing before over heating in spectacular fashion and cooking the engine. That's why I was hoping to solve the problem now before it goes pop. Not bad for an opening hello is it ??:) :)

welcome to the site and I hope you find the answer

sounds like the heater radiator is blocked try replacing thast first.

Welcome,

My dealings in the past with older skoda's with this type of problem is failing head gaskets / heads epecially with the aluminum head type as fitted to your Favorit is breakdown between combustion chamber and the water ways, in my experience the water system is being slightly pressurised and the water in the system cannot circulate, so it boils in the engine block. Follow Big Ks experience as he's more of an expert - I am basing my answer on my personal car ownership and cure which is limited to a smaller number of cars than big K

Regarding the Favorit, easy fix mate.

If I were you, I'd do a bit of a cooling system overhaul at around

Sorry - last post didn't really give you the answer.

I found mine to be because of a sticky heater valve. Its situated at the end of the heater matrix casing, and its located where the inlet and outlet pipes join. The cable that controls the heat via the control on the dash moves it to allow more or less hot water in/out.

The valve costs peanuts, and is a simple fix.
