Hey all,

 

Is there some special trick to removing the CD changer in the boot? I've inserted the removal tools, and tried pushing it, levering it, hitting it, trim removal tools, brute force and swearing, but it won't budge. Is there a secret button I need to press, screw I need to remove or goat to sacrifice to get this out?

 

(2005 Octavia 1.9 TDI Ambiente.)

As far as I know, they are the ones that the Fabia of the same age use, the slot looks the same and they appear to fit?

Not much I can add I'm afraid, other than my complete lack of patience would have resulted in the use of one of these by now...

Seriously considering it, although ideally I want it out intact and working.

Ok well at least it gives me some clues. Will try using my removal tools but shoving them down the edges instead...

In case it helps anyone in the future, I managed to get the CD changer out by taking two old credit cards, chopping them down to two thirds their original height, and shoving them in either side. This is enough to push in the little lugs and pop the changer out. 

 

The lug on the right of the CDC can actually be pushed in with your finger as there is a hole on that side of the rack, but the one on the left has no hole so you need to insert the card on the left for sure.
