dumb bus driver...

Featured Replies

a dumb bus driver drove into my car... I've got to part ex it in a few weeks for the vRS I've got on order. Annoyed doesn't even come close!! grrrr

I just know I'm going to end up out of pocket even though it wasn't my fault...

Does anyone know if my premium will go up regardless of who was at fault?

Really pain in the backside, sorry to hear that

If he's admitted blame then try to get his (company) insurance to sort it out without going through your insurance or better still the company may decide to pay to have your car fixed without claiming (they probably have a reasonable excess given their risk) - in theory you should tell your's insurers but i'd be tempted to wait to see if you can keep it away from the insurers. Although you'd probably want to find out quickly as you probably shouldn't leave it more than a few days or maybe a week to notify them if you need to.

It was a local council run bus for taking disabled kids to school... I hope I'm wrong but I just cant see them settling without using insurance compainies.

I have a witness who saw my car was stationary when she drove into me... so I cant really see there being an issue of blame but I need it sorting FAST before I need to part ex it in

rubbish day

I'd get one or two quote yourself (I'm assuming its not major damage - or is it?) and then phone the bus company and speak to the manager. If its a panel spray up, filler job you may get a quote for a few hundred quid from an independent bodywork place - but obviously you need it done to a good standard. A few hundred quid is probably relatively easy for the bus company to swallow directly, rather than thousands which would be insurance - but it really depends on their attitude

If it does go insurance route, although i don't agree with them necessarily, the threat at least of using an accident claims company can often get the wheels moving with them if there is no real doubt on the blame and witnesses.

I'm not going to comment on the fact you say 'she' drove into you!  :notme:

Try to look at the positive that (i'm assuming) no ones hurt but doesn't help take away the annoyed feeling i know!

On top of above, all else I could suggest is have the repair done by a Skoda approved repairer, wether it's an insurance payout or private payment then at least you're less likely to have any hassle with the trade in. Though you could always get it fixed in time and say nothing to the dealers!

Sorry to hear anyway just coming out this same **** as you. Got a rear end tip and so much hassle getting it sorted

insurance compainies.

Too true!

it's only very minor damage... just needs a bit of paint (but will need blending to match the rest) and the rear plastic arch moulding needs repairing/replacing. I'd guess at £300 ish.

Nobody was hurt and could certainly have been much worse just a pain in the arse to sort out...

I used chips away to find a local chap to paint my scratched punto. It's fantastic. £120 for a decent scratch and dent, that he blended paint for and knocked dent out. Really happy!

Get the dealer to revalue the car as is, claim the difference off the other party. The term is "cash in lieu of repairs".

Also take into account that when you're car goes in for repair, it may then be classed as a Cat D depending how bad the damage is, which will devalue the car regardless of how good the repairs are.

I think this is the best idea.

Unless your part-ex is also a Skoda & in very good condition the dealer will likely just pass it on to an auction or other car seller.

He gives you less, you claim the difference back from the other drivers insurance.

That sucks. I'm part exchanging mine this week, and last weekend I found someone had smashed my rear windscreen overnight. And then Autoglass managed to leave shards of glass in the tailgate that move around inside every time I open and close it, so waiting for them to fix this before I do the part exchange. Pain in the arse.

UPDATE: they admitted liability (too bloody right) and its in getting repaired today. Decided not to tell my insurance company...

Interestingly I have a Fabia as a courtesy car.... It's a shed and basic doesn't even come close to describe it ha

At least getting it fixed is not going to be the hassle it could have been.

....And at least the courtesy Fabia, moves and stops on request and is a smaller target for buses :)

....Or if the Fabia is that bad you could join the enemy and ride the buses :) :)
