So excited - my very first Wave

Featured Replies

Seen lots of Yetis and owners look at me in amazement when I wave, obviously wondering why a stranger would wave.

But yesterday, near Aldenham, Herts a blue Yeti driver gave me a WAVE!

Anyone on here own up to it???? :D :D :D

Had a Yeti as a loan car yesterday.  No-one waved at me!

I always wave to other Yetis as I still do for Eriba caravans.

When I first got mine it was quite common. Now, nothing.

I've received a few gestures! :D

Some will call me a mizzog (no change there) but I've never had any desire to dispense meaningless gestures to unknown drivers of mass produced, run of the mill family cars...especially those as familiar on the road as something like a Yeti. Seems a bit juvenile and pointless to me.

If it were a couple of Morgan Three Wheeler or  Austin Healey 3000 drivers who encountered each other in suitable circumstances then I could understand it. But Yetis !  ??  No, I don't go along with that...and neither do any of the other Yeti drivers I encounter for 99.9999% of the time. If one does happen to raise a finger or two (or, Heaven forfend, a full blown wave) then I might allow my forefinger to twitch a fraction...but that's it. No hugs or exchange of bodily fluids from me, I'm afraid.

As it happens I live in a smallish, reasonably friendly, slightly sociable Devon town.  If two people meet face to face on one of the footpaths that lead into town, they (we) often nod and/or pass a brief gesture or greeting.  (or, at least, the older ones do...the youngsters never do). BUT as soon as they (we) get into the main street where the shops are...it all changes and communication returns to what you or I would normally expect in a small market town centre....i.e it's not openly hostile but we don't acknowledge every passing soul with a handshake or gushing hug and three kisses.

But I digress.

You're a mizzog ;)

You're a mizzog ;)

You're right  ;)

It happens a lot if you ride a motorbike and becomes tiresome for the reasons oldstan says.

Last time I did it in a car was when I had an MGB GT and they were current!

ROTFL

I enjoy my Yeti and think other Yeti drivers do likewise. Because of this, I like to wave to drivers of other Yeti's. So I generally flash my lights and then wave - and about 30% of the people wave back. You usually get a response if the road is clear and there is more time to say hello. I rode motobikes (a Yamaha FJR1300 and Suzuki 650 Vstom twin) for about 10 years, and here almost everyone nods to each other. Interestingly in France, they waggle a foot; in the USA they wave. I hope all Yeti drivers wave back to me - I usually see about 3 to 5 Yeti's on each drive, and seems to me more people are waving back - maybe the locals are getting used to waving. Long may it continue.

I'm a coach driver and coach drivers all wave at other coach drivers (but not at bus drivers of course) so a Yeti driver waving at me wouldn't seem all that odd to me

Could have been me, but it wasn't.

Have been keeping an eye out for you as you are so close though.

Oooohhh!!!!  So near and yet so far :D   No flirtin' on line - when the two yetis get together, they may make a Panda!!

You will recognise my car - its the white and black Monte with a long line of cars behind......all hootin' and tootin'.  :p  :p

First wave in months today, coming back to Wetherby, from another Muscovado classic owner.  There were definitely more returned waves in the early days...
