Correct door locks for rear ?

Featured Replies

Hi All, Well I am having problems finding an exact match for my daughters 2002 Fabia TDi elegance, nearside rear 3B4839015AG and offside 3B4839016AG and the ones on ebay etc have the correct numbers but dont quote a suffix of AG ! and they are both locked shut ! do you have to have the correct suffix on the end ? ps any better ideas for opening the locks with it in place ? cheers Stuart

I should think that it's a case of the -AG suffix ones being the latest revision, what you would get from Skoda today. Presumably you haven't been able to read the part number off your existing ones? The ones on ebay were the latest revision at the time those cars were built. (Edit: Or do you mean new ones on Ebay? In which case yes, you should be worried if they don't have the right suffix). I doubt the ones in your car are the AG suffix?  I think as long as you get ones from a car that is at least as new as yours, and with the same functionality (remote central locking?), they should be OK. Can't guarantee that though, I'm afraid.

Hi Wino, They are definitely  AG as its marked on both locks ! I have only looked on the internet at the moment, I will phone a dealer up to get a price and see what part no they quote but I bet it won't be cheap, we did change my sons Fabia VRS pass door lock and that HAD to be the correct suffix or it didn't open with the correct button press, and I have taken the original lock apart and there's no chip inside just a motor and 3 microswitches, cheers Stuart

Ah, fair enough, I thought because you said the doors were both locked shut you had looked up the part number on somewhere like partscats.info rather than looking at the locks, 'cos you weren't able to.

Try asking a dealer for the -AG suffix numbers, and see if they say "that's been superseded by...".  If you just ask them for the right part number for your car, they may be reluctant to tell you, because they will guess that you're heading for ebay with the info.   Dealer parts will be costly, but probably a safer bet.

I have a feeling they may suggest -AM suffix, which sounds more recent, and gets a few hits on ebay when you search for -AG. Speculation only.

Hi Wino, Just phoned a dealer and the latest lock is suffix AN and its priced at £129.92 and could even be plus vat ! while on tinternet there £30 ish but without the last fig G or N

Makes you wonder if they just keep changing the suffix on the part numbers to keep the ebay sellers from appearing to be on top of things.

There's an 015AN here for a little less than Dealer price, open to offers too.
