Auto left mirror dipping in reverse

Featured Replies

Hi I just got my superb today and read the manual to set up the auto mirror dipping in reverse. I tested it and it worked. Later on I went out in the car and it didn't dip when in reverse unless i manually switched the mirror selector on the door handle to the left mirror, then it dipped. Is this normal or should it do it automatically?

It is normal and explained in the manual.

I havent got my Superb yet, but going by the other cars I have had with this facility, the selector needs to be permanently on the left mirror for this to continuesly work automatically!!

Skoda manuals aren't the best of translations, & from our experience VW do it better but the information is accurate, keep the switch in the L position!

Its a catch 22 when reversing and you still want the heated mirrors on..

I tend to leave it in the right mirror postion when flicking the heat setting off, though to reverse you have to go 3 clicks from the heat setting.

However.. i like the option of been able to select if you want it to tilt as most times parking you need it to tilt down as it does restrict the overall view of the side of the car.

Talking heated mirrors.. i find they do clear really quick with the heaters compared to other cars.

Ah ok my mistake then, thanks for the responses. Otherwise loving the car - its only got 35 delivery miles on it and a quick trip around the block last night - but I've got to go about 80miles today, can't wait :)

also.. I have found.. If you reverse the mirror drops but stays dropped until you drive forward and hit around 10mph. You get raise the mirror again by moving the dial back to the centre position.

For my manual, the mirror returns to its usual position when I change into second gear. Not sure what that equates to in a dsg motor.

Selector needs to be left in "L" for the mirror to dip.

Ah that explains it I thought it was a fault on mine....note to self RTFM

On a similar note the whole auto mirror/electric seat adjustment set to individual keys is pure brilliance. If you have partner like mine who likes to jump in the car at the earliest opportunity, it just makes me smile seeing the seat working it's magic before I sit in it.

Or if you unlock the car from a distance while walking to it the seat has already moved into the drivers set position before you even open the door !

I think you'll find the seat only changes position once you've opened the driver's door.
