Hi all

Picking up car next week from dealer. Sent all forms to dealer to register but reg plate not being picked up as known by insurance companies yet. How'd you get round it??

Your car comes with I think seven or ten days free insurance, well my SII did which will enable your car time to be insured. That is what I was told was one of the reasons for it.

Sounds like you've been dealing with an incompetent person at your insurance company.

Telling them it's new, the model and options, and which registration has been allocated should be sufficient.

 

Skoda dealers will often ask you to contact Skoda Insurance who will insure the car for free for (IIRC) two weeks.

Skoda Insurance then send the details direct to the dealership.

This allows the dealer to sort the vehicle excise, amongst other things.

It also gives you a little breathing space to sort your own insurance.

 

Edit: Of course, if you're trying comparison sites, that won't work with the registration.

One of the current cars took longer to show up on the insurance database than the free 7 days that I got from the dealer. This was due to the engine/trim level only just being announced. They just picked a different car car at a similar price to ensure I was covered.

 

Due to this 'hassle', I wasn't charged anything for swapping it over to the correct car and for a good price too.
