2012 skoda octavia 1.6 cr flywheel

Featured Replies

Does the 1.6cr engine have a single or dual mass flywheel

If it's the dual mass are they common for failing

Dual and they will wear out the same as any other DMF.

Yes, they are.

Maybe it's possible to use single mass flywheel instead (previously in 1,9 TDI engines [~same power] they could be installed) - you can try to find out.

Fairly sure it's a solid single mass flywheel on vehicles without stop start and dual mass on stop/start. But I might be wrong as I'm getting old too be honest. I done a clutch last week on a 2012 1.6 cr Octavia Cayc engine it had a solid flywheel and it was genuine Skoda.

You might be able to use this above link if you want a single solid mass. If you have a dual mass.

I spoke to Skoda a few months ago about this, and they confirmed to me that except for a few months build period, a dual mass flywheel was fitted to the CR, and is now convertable to a solid flywheel. This is now considered to be the preferred repair from Skoda. The thread I posted this in is in the pinned section at the top of the first page of Octavia 2 above.

I'm not going to go into things again, but have a read of the thread (entitled for the 1.9TDI) for the official Skoda stance on SMF conversion.

Mike

SMF conversion should be a good modification - As I've just mentioned on another thread the Superb II with the same engine has a SMF from new. DPF or SMF fitment does vary with the respective models of the 1.6CR
