Gear box oil spec please

Featured Replies

Whats the correct gearbox oil to use please for my 1.6 petrol 2003 mk1 Octavia and how much of it do I need?

Thanks

I was advised to use the stuff from the Skoda dealer. It's not too expensive. I used 2 litres in mine - 2004 vRS but I imagine the gearboxes are very similar.

Mine just seems to be hard to get into gear sometimes. Its had a new clutch recently so all new parts internally.

I have heard about the linkages drying out of grease because its above the exhaust or something? Anyone heard of this ? A chap at a main dealer told me that gear box is normally filled for life from factory and is rarely changed. Dont know if theres some truth in that ?

Ignore the 'filled for life' line. You'll notice a difference :)

It's a lubricant like any other, and it's effectiveness will decrease over time. And yep, definitely worth buying the VAG fluid
