New coolant pump and great service from Skoda UK

Featured Replies

After parking my car on my drive Friday pm last weekend I packed all my work gear into it Sunday pm ready to drive off to my hotel on Sunday evening, so I was in the right place for work on Monday morning. I got as far as the end of my drive when the low coolant level warning light came on. Upon opening the bonnet the coolant level wasn't just low - there wasn't any visible at all. It had drained on to my drive and down the drain over the past two days.

I Called Skoda Roadside Assistance and the nice man from the AA was with me 20 minutes later, turns out he lives in the next village. He pressure tested the system only to find it was losing pressure and diagnosed a failed water pump.

I enquired about the possibility of a loan car and he called Skoda UK. Skoda called me back and told me that as the dealers would be shut at 6:00pm on Sunday they would call around and find a car hire company that was still open. Being a Sunday this turned out to be Bristol airport, the closest one still open to where I live at that time on a Sunday. They arranged for a taxi to pick me up and take me to the airport so I could collect the car - all paid for.

I left my car keys with the wife, the AA recovered my car from my drive Monday morning and delivered it to Carrs Skoda for final diagnosis and repair. Carrs phoned me and kept me informed of the progress at all times. I picked the car up yesterday all fixed and a full valet had been carried out.

Great service from Skoda UK, I wonder how many car companies would go that far to help their customers out late on a Sunday evening - all on a car that is out of warranty as its done over 60k miles.

My car is three years old later this year, and it's things like this that keep customers loyal, I may well be in a new Superb S3 later this year.

A big thanks to Skoda UK and Carrs Skoda for great customer service.

Great result.

I am curious though, you still rang Skoda Assistance even though you knew you were no longer under warranty?

If they had decided you weren't covered, due to the excess mileage would you have had to pay for everything yourself?

Or did you get their agreement before jumping in the taxi?

The warranty only has run out, the roadside assistance is separate and lasts for three years regardless of mileage.

Taken from the Skoda website: In the unlikley event that you do have a problem, we provide 3 years', unlimited mile, european-wide roadside assistance with all our new cars. We'll even help you if you lock your keys in the car, or put the wrong fuel in!
