location of CCM in Octavia 1

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone knew where the CCM would be located in a 2001 Skoda Octavia Ambiente estate? It's a 51 plate if that's relevant.

Some of the electrics aren't working so I thought I'd see if I could see any corrosion on connections etc. I've heard about it being different places (Driver's door, under passenger front carpet, under driver front carpet). I don't know if it will narrow it down but none of the doors operate the interior lights, but they work on the switch. Only the passenger door puddle light works and it is also the only one which triggers the dash 'door open' warning. None of the boot lights come on and the car will relock itself if the passenger door is not left open, I guess because it can't detect the other doors as being open / closed / unlocked

Thanks in advance if you can help!

Drivers side under dash, where the cubbyhole is.

thank you! but all the other threads I've read have been on about lifting the passenger side carpet... it's possible I didn't mean the CCM, if that's what is under there. Do you know if the unit under the dash has something to do with the famous water ingress problem?

thanks again for the quick response

most water ingress problems are due to water getting to the control unit in the drivers door corroding the pins on the connector attached to the window mechanism - other places that can cause similar problems to your problems could be a break in the wiring going through the A pillar to the module in the drivers door

Ooh ok, is the driver door control unit particularly fiddly to get at? Id like to have a try at taking the doorcard off but I don't want to start it if it's highly complicated. Also does the loom going into the driver's door have anything to do with the boot lights? Bear in mind all the driver's door buttons work as they should, and no door apart from passenger front triggers the door open light.

I already looked at the loom going into the door, one or two of the wires have lost a bit of their insulation so I rebound them. They weren't damp though.

It won't be the module under the dash.

It will either be:

The loom going through the A pillar into the door, or

The control box inside the driver's door.

The loom fails where it gets bent every time you open the door, the wires inside break. And the module inside the door suffers where water runs down the cable and into the plug. The pins in either the plug or socket corrode and cause a bad connection, or sometimes even corrode badly enough to snap off.

You're welcome :)

thanks very much for all your responses! I'll try and get the door apart soon, I'm just a bit put off by all the window and locking switches etc but i'm sure I'll work it out

If you search fro the micro switch replacement guide that should give you all the info you need to get to the module in the door

ahh yes I remember seeing that one, thanks again, will have a go this weekend if it's fine

not sure if anyone's still following this but here goes! I took the door card off (which went ok apart from accidentally deadlocking the door at one point :| ) and checked all the connections, they were all absolutely fine. Someone has had the card off before because the plastic seal was taped on with masking tape. A strange thing happened - the puddle light, which has never worked, actually came on for a few seconds when i fiddled with the door latch..which is what deadlocked the door til i reconnected the window and lock control panel. Couldn't get it to repeat.

I'll have to look under a carpet or something for other wiring faults. some investigation in the boot revealed the boot lights have live connection but no earth, so I recrimped and heatshrunk their rotten earth node in the loom under the cd changer. That did nothing, so I rigged up a very hillbilly system where I can touch their new earths onto bolts in the boot if I really need light lol.. :D i tried screwing them on nice and securely buuut they stayed on permanently so I had to unscrew them and use them temporarily. Not ideal but better than nothing
