Octavia II key refurb

Featured Replies

Hi,

I got my first vRS yesterday, a 2007 Mk 2, my first ever performance car. I am so pleased with it. Got the biggest grin.

I'm working on tidying up a few small cosmetic things. One of them is that the key remote buttons are looking really worn and tired. Is there anywhere I can get new sets of buttons or complete plastic cases for the remotes please? They work just fine so I don't need new keys. Just want to make them look nice again.

Thanks,

Paul.

Just like that one. Thank you. eBay was the one place I hadn't looked.

It is possible to remove just the buttons from the fobs and change them over rather than transferring the internals

Brilliant. Thank you. It tooks easy enough to do with a little care.

I've ordered the bits. Should be here on Monday.

I'm planning on buying the one of ebay & swapping the internals too, my key fob is battered looks like the last person sandpapered it, splashed paint etc makes me sad when i've got the car loking all shiny

Two minute job with a new shell and logo, just swap everything into the new key cover and the blade from your old key, don't lose the transpoder though for got sake or you'll need to get it all re-coded.I snapped the blade on mine a few months back so bought a blank and had it cut at my local locksmiths, all in for £15 bargain!

I'm sure I seen a leather cover for the key fob on eBay the other day that looked really smart .... key fob just slides inside it and although buttons are covered the leather cover had panels corresponding to the 3 buttons on the key fob.

take care with the transponder
