Full tank of Fuel from Dealer???

Featured Replies

Just got a brand spanking new VRS from a main dealer.

Never bought new before but it had less than 1/4 tank.

Should in not been full?

Is that not part of the On the Road package?

I got a tenners worth (well, I actually got a tenner in cash to pop over the road and do it myself because they forgot :D). I got about a fivers worth with my Octavia!

Generally, a tank of fuel is something you specify! After my first car being given to me with about £2's worth in it, which promptly ran out as I was in unknown country with no petrol stations (involved a long walk with a jerry can!), I always haggle a tankful in!

Mats, flaps and a tank of fuel! The usual bargaining items

So no, a full tank isn't included in the OTR price.

managed to get half a tank of diesel and rubber mats

front & back with my ex demo vrs also the 4 months tax

left on it....

I said to my local dealer "You'll fill the tank up won't you? It's terrible when you pay all that money for a car and they don't have the decency to give you a full tank of fuel".

"Yeah, sure, we'll put some fuel in it..."

It came with a tenner in it. I spoke to the lady at the local filling station. She said they always come over and only ever put a tenner in. Note to self, make sure they put "Tank of fuel" on the receipt!

Even worse, the courtesy car I borrowed was completely empty. Had to put a fiver into it to go a few miles home. :(

Grrrrrr.

At Gorners I haggled in a tank of diesel and vRS mats.

When I bought my subaru, I got enough to get me off the forecourt.

dont they only put enough fuel to just move the cars onto the transporters and onto into the showroom? its up to thedealer to fil it up or not?

That's probably right, yes.

It's then up to the dealer about what to do about it!

Cheers chaps.

Silly me thought it was a given.

Just be happy with

Mine had about a tenners worth in it when I got it. Could have been worse though. A mate of mine bought a rover and when he went to pick it up they handed him a receipt for the fuel they put in and demanded the ten pounds before he could take the car.

.. now THAT sounds like a REAL Rover dealer .. wonder why they went bust ........ ?!

My dealer kindly left an eggcup full of juice in before I took it away ... I was concerned that I didnt have enough juice to reach the petrol station .. less than a mile away !!

At service time I asked him about it and he said

" oh yes, we always put enough in to getto the patrol station - wouldnt look very good all these Skodas breaking down within 500 yards of the garage, would it heh heh heh ... Anyway, heres your courtesy car ... erm, there s no juice in it .............. "

Got the flaps, mats, doorsill covers and a full tank of fuel.... nothing like a good haggle!! Not mentioning the

My Granny always said ".....if you don't ask, you don't get....", and she was born in 1898, died 30 years ago before the world turned to rat ****.

Life Rule No.1 - Don't "expect" anything from anyone unless they're close blood relatives, most things are negotiable, anything that isn't you find a way to take it anyway (legally of course) - seek and ye shall find - who dares wins - etc.etc.!

So it was a full tank  hehee

hmm-dosent suprise me!! me and the dealer went across the road to the garage so he could put fuel in our superb!! lol

How can some of you Vrs guys get mats thrown in when they are standard on the Vrs!?

Or is it the Octy your talking about, are they not standard on that?!

The Fabia vRS comes standard with embroidered vRS mats - and nice they are too. Definitely not a bargaining point.

I wouldn't do a deal if I couldn't get mats, flaps (even if you have to fit em yourself) and a full tank thrown in. :nono:

But its easy to understand why, at

I agree as well. When I picked my Fabia vRS up it had about a tenners worth of fuel in it. Didn't expect any more to be honest.

Only had a tenner in mine when I got it, but lasted long enough :)

I was just happy that it enough to get me out of Sheffield - the land of expensive fuel.

You should all do as I do and make sure that there is only a syringe full of juice in your part exchange motor. Even if it means syphoning out just prior to pick up.

Nothing more satisfying than seeing the sales, service and parts manager pushing your part exchange vehicle onto the forecourt!!

I had about 3 quids worth of fuel in mine.

Didnt loose any sleep however.

About a fiver's worth in mine. Didn't grumble because when dad brought a brand new Austin Allegro once (evil car), it only had a miniscule amount of fuel in it. Anyway, it vitually fell apart as we left the forecourt anyway!

Think your self lucky. The salesman at my dealership put in a tenners worth of unleaded ! ! ! Got me just far enough into the country before i broke down and called th AA. The salesman is no longer employed at the dealership.

I bought mine nearly new from Queensbourgh Skoda (Scotland), they filled it up, I didn't ask or barter for it! They gave me a free road map too... after discussing the easiest way back to Essex! :) Made it back on the tankful too... 472 miles!

Thanks Queensbough Skoda!
