Red light on drivers door stays illuminated

Featured Replies

hi the immobilizer/alarm led on the drivers side door stays lit constantly on my skoda octavia 1.9tdi 130 estate elegance 2004, the alarm dont work (dont know if it had one to start off with) but the indicators flash when locked. The led stays on all the time and am having stating issues also the car starts first time mostly but sometimes wont start at all unless jump started i have tested the battery and it says it has a 12.6 charge and i have also tested the alternator which comes back no problems, this problem arose when i had taken battery out to charge then refitted it, the car turns over but only the once then all lights go out and the doors lock themselves when key is turned. The red led never goes out even when am driving the car and there are no warning lights that stay on on the dash board. Please can anyone help me with this matter as am completely overwhelmed with this issue am having as when i google it theres about 40 different things that pop up with possible causes to what it can be  i phoned the dealer up and they said it would cost 100 pound a hour to find the cause of my problem and this could take up to 5 hours for them to find out what the root cause could be (thats 500 pound just to be told what is up with my car with no fix included)

May be water in the connectors either in the door, or at the bottom of the A pillar, or damage to the wiring between the body and door.

i think i found the problem its something to do with the boot door its locked but it thinks its still open as light goes off when boot is open and i changed the battery today and the car kicks up first time thank you trundle nut for your help i checked loom and wiring in door there was no water leakage or corrosion on wires but was well worth checking :notme:

Does the door open light on the dash work with the boot. What about the boot lights?

It could be the microswitch in the boot lock
