Oct'y on Heaven and Hell

Featured Replies

Just watch Clarkson's new DVD, raced a diesel Octavia against a mk4 Golf GTI, the golf lost:D not sure of the octavia's bhp, good DVD though:thumbup:

Yer but the Rover 25 also beat the GTI as well...

Just shows you hard lardy the old GTI was.

I thought Clarkson's new DVD was rubbish compared to some of his previous ones, must be getting hard for him to come up with a new format.

Althought the beating up of the new peroudoa was quite funny

Swmbo got me that dvd for xmas and it made my day.

I cant belive how far behind that golf was. I assume that was the 2.0 tdi octy with 140bhp, the golf I belive is 150bhp.

It was always said that the MK4 Golf didnt deserve a GTI badge.

Anyone thought that it wasn't the case the Golf MK 4 was slow, just the octy IS quick (especially in 130 bhp TDi form!)

And as for the 25, 11 years ago I had a 216 GSi that was much faster than an XR3 or a GTi. Problem was Rover's are designed for high revs = engine stress = shorter engine life.

I got this too, haven't watched yet, though (2 hours of Eastenders and Corrie last night numbed my brain - not my choice you understand :D )

Which Golf GTi was it? I believe there were a number of engines, including the less impressive 115bhp 2.0 and the 125bhp 1.8 litre units, fitted to the mk IV Golf GTi's. Wasn't there also a 180bhp 1.8T?

probably the 2.0, it better serves the required purpose

Not sure about the 1.8 you mention , but there was the 2.0 , the normal 150bhp 1.8t and some 180bhp versions of the 1.8t

I find it hard to believe that any standard diesel Octy would beat a 1.8T Golf....

Then there is no way an Octy diesel would beat it.

Thats like saying a standard Fabia vRS will beat an Octavia vRS.

It was funny alright, the Octy hammered the Golf  (Swmbo also got it for me :) )

Wow that Evo was very tidy.

Aww i love it!!!:D skoda 1 vw 0 lol!:)

gotta call bull**** on that; if it was indeed the Anniversary edition, wouldn't that mean that a TDi Octy would whoop a vRS Octy just as bad...

you guys really belive a POS rover 25 auto could beat a golf gti anniversary???

that video is total BS unless the removed the turbo or something.

i can't believe some of you actually believe that video, maybe the rubbish 2.0 gti would lose but a 180bhp 1.8T??? give it a rest

someone with sense please rip it and host it so we can see the race in full detail and what they did to the golf to sabotage it :)
