Leather scratch / tear

Featured Replies

Well I guess no matter how careful I've been nothing is safe when you have a 10 year old ...

I would say tear is probably a bit strong .... More like badish scratch...

Anything I can do ?

Yeah, maybe need a professional but in essence you need an abrasive to remove the lifted scratch, then add leather filler before sanding back the filler and applying a matching colour, as said perhaps best left to a professional, otherwise revive the ten year old!!

Have you tried something like Autoglym Leather Treatment to soften or blend the leather, back into shape?

There are loads of companies out there who specialise in such repairs. Cost wont be anywhere near what you would expect for small damage areas. I would seek one locally before trying to repair it myself. It can be done but it is one of those tasks that experience helps greatly to get a good long lasting repair. I had SWMBO Jag ivory leather seat repaired from a similar scratch and it cost £40. I don't live local to you so sorry I don't have any direct links for you.

Mailed 'em. They get good reviews online. Do you know anyone who has used them ?

This is exactly the sort of thing my wife fixes on daily basis. She works for her sister and they are SMART repair technicians specialising in vehicle interiors, unfortunately they only cover West and Central Scotland! :notme:

My advice would be to speak to some salesmen in local dealerships as they will deal with Smart repairers on a regular basis so should be able to recommend someone.

Not sure I'd have a go myself as every material seems to react differently to repairs so if you want a good finish probably best get it done by a pro.

eBay?

You will need to be creative with your listing though as officially you cannot sell kids on there.

Haha ! Already tried eBay... They opened an item with attitude dispute and sent her back !

The DIY kits are generally pretty good. I've used them to repair major damage quite successfully.

OK Just spoken to the guys that Phil posted about. They found another guy who could do the job. 3 or 4 small scratches. He says he cant be sure but it's going to be around £250 ! Well that sounds like a lot to me.... He says they will get worse if not fixed.

I think I'm going to mark that seat out of bounds and try and get some more quotes. Any more ideas in Yorkshire area guys ?

Don't want to do it myself.... I would def #### it up ....

Cheers !

Hi Nick, the guy near me in Saddleworth charged me 30 quid for a leather chair repair. £250 is robbing the urine mate.

Yup, he's definitely taking the p*ss!

Still think it'd be worth asking some salesmen in local main dealers who they use as they will regularly get interior damage repaired on the cars they sell.

Yeah tried that Bally in local dealers. They didn't have anyone to recommend.

That's a shame.

I guess cars in Yorkshire obviously don't get as much interior damage as those north of the border!
