Getting rid of SKY

Featured Replies

Not quite sure how that would work logistically. It would take an army surely to monitor and recognise exactly whether I was watching a terrestrial channel like ITV or maybe Iplayer or a YouTube video.

But as I said its not an illegal act anyway so it's of little consequence. All I know is I'm a lot better off each month not feathering the pockets of the Murdoch empire.

When you connect to any server on the internet, then you will leave your IP behind along with a train through the routers and firewalls on the way if they're set to log.

Very easy to find you and even when and how many times etc.

As for the comment it's not illegal for the end user to watch, I'm sure there's something in it.

Either way, it's clearly not legal and as I said even at full price, it wouldn't be worth it to save that amount of money.

I do object to the high pricing, but if you object, you do something about it and get it reduced or leave.

Carrying on watching it for free just causes issues.

If the viewer numbers (through any way) drop at sky, the programmes start to appear elsewhere.

Going OT, it really does wind me up when people make judgements about other people's lifestyles. If you'd looked in my lounge window this time last year, you'd see a 40" led tv, Sky, and two newish ca

It does amaze me how much people spend every month on TV packages. Mate in work cancelled his Sky this week was paying around £60 a month!! but took him ages to cancel as they immediately offered to

  • You can pay sky £10 to keep access to them & turn the box into a freesat

I have sky, all the channels through satellite ,harldy ever watch it apart from the football but all i pay is 70 euro..............

A YEAR!!!!! :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

and have been for 5 yrs.

CHEAP AS CHIPS

Would love to know how you manage to get Sky for that amount a year?

Well I don't use kodi (have the option) or those Android box's as they are not consistent, plus streaming eats data and is a sure sign giveaway for isp that u are using those boxs.

I use old tech as S€y seem to be focusing on streaming only these days.

Hacked hardware sky box at a guess.

Might work for Sky? I work for Openreach and Infinity and BT Sports are free and discounted TV packs ;)

We have full package Sky Q AND Netflix.

I have tried to convince my missus to ditch Sky as it is a ripoff really, but she will miss the live pause etc and the boxsets and there's no telling her.

That said, I've watched a few different Android Boxes at different locations and I'm not overly happy with the quality as it was dropping out more than I liked, even struggled to find a watchable chanel for the footie on one afternoon.

There are better things we could be doing with the best part of £100 a month, I'm not gonna lie, but the only way to get rid is to put my foot down and it's just not worth the backlash :D

so basically she's costing you £1200/PA. Or, lots of decent car parts or a holiday or flights to somewhere nice or lots of pairs of shoes?

Sack her and tell her I said that :D

Can someone tell me where the difference in legality is between the Kodi/Android box and an Amazon firestick? From what I can understand, both are are one off payment for TV channels streamed off the internet.

Mike

The majority on amazon requires prime membership @ £79/year unless you simply want the free catch-up services

kodi, showbox, mobdro all use either sky, virgin etc to stream those services to u via linux based sat or cable boxes (old tech) ,they're not very reliable and some are hardly watchable, amazon firestick can be cracked to add those apps to it.

But you can't then use amazon prime if it's cracked IIRC.

I can't repeat what she said, it's a family site apparently ;):D

Firestick is not cracked but Kodi is side loaded as android. Runs just like a normal app.

Sorry yes your right i'm thinking apple tv, my bad.

Been running Kodi for over a year now,its first class no buffering etc.Get a good quality box and connect direct to your router and learn how to clear cache etc.

Read up on Wookie wizard. u could even install on a firestick

Suggest you trial it out first on your laptop, learn how to use it,i dont watch Football,i believe there can be problems with to many users on the servers.

There is so much content available, movies boxsets live sport tv series etc.

Have fun
