Help! Flashing EML light

Featured Replies

Hi all hope you are able to help have a 1.4 16v auto which has shown so many issues in the 3 months of ownership!

Throttle body was cleaned and threw up EML, cleared fault run faultlessly

2 days later ran the car about 30 mins flashing EML light and chugged didn't seem like revs would make a difference since then left it parked plugged in the reader and no faults

Would appreciate someone's help because honestly I'm ready for throwing in the towel with the car

Flashing EML on a 1.4 16v indicates a misfire, most likely to be caused by a failing coil pack.

Am I right in saying that the 1.4 16v has one coil pack?

If yours is an early one then yes, check the engine code on the sticker under the boot carpet, AUA is early, BBY is late, BBY's have individual coil packs for each cylinder. If you have an AUA then it's worth changing the HT leads first.

Mine is a 1.4 16v classic think mine is BBY 2002 so annoyed with this car any links to the right parts really appreciate your help

Take off the airbox on top of the engine and have a look, it'll be obvious if you have HT leads or not.
