No electrics in driver door

Featured Replies

I bought a Skoda Octavia RS 01 3 days ago and everything's working well, except for that nothing works in the driver door, central locking system locks/unlocks all the other doors, powermirror and electric windows on driver door aren't working aswell.

I've disassembled the driver door and cleaned all the connector cables, I'm guessing the cable is broken somewhere, any help? What else should i be looking at?

I got no diagnostics program.

Pictures/video would be helpful since this is my first Skoda.

Regards

I'm not sure if the whole door is on a connector but if it is have you made sure its seated properly. Seems strange that nothing works, if there is a broken wire it must be the ground as its unlikely that the whole lot are damaged although there is probably more than one ground going to the door anyway as the window will pull more current than the central locking.

Hmm, I hope I can find some information in my Haynes book, would be awesome to fix this -_-

I also noticed my eletric window switch only had 6 pins, tried my friend's unit which had 7 pins but no help.

Shouldnt there be more pins for the connector cable?

It is not unknown that a wire has broken where the loom passes from the door to the body.

With the door open, at both ends gently pull back the rubber cover that contains the loom. Look carefully at the loom for a broken wire. The insulation may still be intact but the broken wire will bend more easily at the break.

Have you looked for corrosion in the connector on the back of the window winder? Many photos on this site showing the problem. In my case the bottom pin on the middle row had corroded away completely. This pin supplies the 12V feed to the door. Another common problem.

There's no corrosion in any connector in the driver door, I unplugged them all.

Mainly the big connector cable which is to the central locking unit or whatever it is, the big one, i sprayed inside the connection and in the cable itself 2 or 3 times and let it sit.

I'm gonna check the loom under the rubber cover.

could also be the micro switch on the drivers door lock at fault

Loom breaking in the door hinge area is more common :)

It clicks when i turn the key in the driver door lock , ill have a look at the door loom more thoroughly after ive changed brake discs n pads tomorrow.

Any pictures or videos on how to repair a cable if its broken in the door loom? As simple as possible since i have no access to garage.

Also how do i take out the interior around the A pillar to gain access to the doorloom from inside the car cause im assuming that might be necessary

If you find a break it's a "normal" wiring thing of soldering up to repair the broken connection. :)
