LOST KEYS CANNOT GET INTO CAR!

Featured Replies

Hope I might get some help as I have my 2006 Skoda Octavia 4x4 Estate still sitting immobile on my drive!

Not going into too much detail, lost all my keys including house/car/garage last Saturday.  NIGHTMARE SCENARIO!  Garage and house sorted fairly quickly. Facts:-

1. Had auto locksmith arrive this Monday who tried to pick drivers side door lock.

2. No success as he found that the lock just turned through 360 degrees.  Said that at some time a key had been used on the lock with excess force (not me!) and that the lock mechanism is designed to shear in this case.  So deadbolts securing all doors.

3. He tried pneumatic wedge on door and hooked driver's side door handle but no luck.

4. Suggested drilling out the lock!

My questions:-

1. Someone has suggested that, if I can get the bonnet open that it might be possible to unlock the car via the relays?

2. I have checked my manual and can see that there is an emergency tailgate release button.  If a broke one of the rear windows I assume I could then open the boot, put the rear seats down, and try pushing the button near the gear lever to unlock the car (not sure if this would work without the ignition powered up)?

3. If I get the locksmith to cut a new key, based on the one in the door, would this enable me to turn on the ignition?

4. Would the locksmith be able to program a new fob without the ignition being turned on?

I have tried my nearest Skoda dealer who was not particularly helpful.  I can get the car transported there but they were not happy that the car could not be moved on site as the handbrake is on and told me it would take a fortnight to get replacement keys & fob.

Seem to be getting nowhere fast at the moment!  As this is a security issue, if any member can help, perhaps they could PM me.

Let's hope this thread doesn't go to posting the best way to break into a skoda octavia :D

I'd say the dealer is the best option. Once you arrange transport to the dealership I think I'd think that entry by brick is the only option to release the handbrake and getting the bonnet up to disconnect battery etc.

If this locksmith you gave hired ****s the lock up then you could be looking at a new lock set!

Have you not got insurance for lost keys that can help you out at all? Bank accounts home insurance etc.

Motorbike security chain through one of front wheels and round front strut,

Cars going nowhere then until your new keys arrive

Hi I know this won't help but when we bought a polo for my son recently it only had one key I was told without a key it would cost hundreds if the key was lost and new ones needed sorting out, a mobile locksmith cut and coded a new spare key for £65 which is what we did. I know it's too late for you but anyone else with only one key may want to consider this.

If your local Skoda dealer is not being helpful I would call Skoda customer service. My understanding is that Skoda (and dealers) have access to the build information from which a new key can be ordered (at a price!).

I believe this is one of the reasons that VINs are discouraged from being left in posted VCDS scans.

Depends how much you need to get in.

You have to remember with no keys, it should be hard to get in and do anything with the car.

Even if you can physically break in the doors will remain deadlocked until unlocked with a key or remote.

You would need to have a new key cut to the ignition barrel to turn the ignition on and press the button by the handbrake. Then with the ignition on the new key can be programmed into the car to start it.

I think that will work but unsure about the button by the handbrake working with the ignition on and the doors deadlocked.

where are you located?
