Superchargers....

Featured Replies

Hey dudes...

Does anyone know of any supercharger manufacturers that make these things for the Fabia? More specifically, the 2 litre?

Your earliest and most constructive reply will be much appreciated :D

I just checked out the Neuspeed site...apparently the supercharger kit will offer a 50% increase in power....240bhp??? :D Quite pricey though...$2000....something to think about veerryyy hard...

And I live in a country where cars are left-hand drive :) Thanks for that :D

And I live in a country where cars are left-hand drive :) Thanks for that :D

so you do :)

An engine conversion would cost a lot more. Just ask Jason.

$2000 for a super charger kit is cheap mate !

A lot of the guys in the US are running them as straight bolt on kits to cars like the Focus 2.0l

Just watch out for claims of 'high' power outputs !

50% increase = 240bhp

so your saying you have 160bhp at the moment?? tell us mate what you have done to your N/A 2.0 to gain 45bhp :) thats quite a gain on a N/A 2.0 that

edit: do it mil, do it mil, it has to be done, no brainer really  :D

See pic attached.... you know you want too!!! :D

Put a bugatti.......... never mind :)

Do it Mil, supercharge it. Would be worth

:iagree:

but tbh i'd be expecting more in the region of 160bhp - 175bhp from super charging a 2.0 :)

1200 quid for 120 hp is very good

I'm a bit rusty on superchargers now but I think they don't suffer lag like turbo's do. Certainly would be a one of a kind Furby but I doubt your standard Clutch and gearbox would be that happy with it and that baby would run hot so look out for blistering paintwork on the bonnet. You would however be a god if you achieved it. All hail Mil as they keep saying  ps don't forget the brakes upgrade and insurance issues

Aye Charger's don't have "Lag" as they are directly connected to the engine, think the Neuspeed one also has an Electromagnetic Clutch so you can run with and without :) Very Mad Max!!!!

Thought about buying an Ex mini-cooperS Charger and making your own kit??? You can get them on Fleabay for about £100!!!! One of my mates has bolted one to his 2litre 16V ABF unit! Goes like Fook!!!

120+50% gives you 240' date=' and 240 x 50% - gives you 120 :)...unless of course you calculate 50% for horsies differently than you do with prices...but I wouldn't think so.

Now I have to plan everything. From what I read, I won't need an intercooler for it unless I decide I want over 7.5PSI boost. So that's savings aside. $2000...that's about Dhs7000.00....hmmm...you're right, it is quite a good price for a supercharger, since I was expecting something along the lines of about Dhs10000.00.

How much do you think a tuning garage will charge to fit it in?

Here's the letter from Neuspeed to me when I emailed them:

Hi,

I am the owner of 2.0 Skoda Fabia, which is a VW group model and

shares the same engine as the Golf MK4 2 litre model.

I am interested in purchasing a supercharger which I read about on

your website. I have a few questions I would like answered before I

make any decision:

1) Does power really hike upto 50% as is said? I currently have a K&N

filter which has upped the power in my car from 115bhp to around 120bhp.

Therefore, in purchasing this unit, should I see somewhere around

240bhp? That is, 120 + 50%? Answer the same for torque please.

[i'] Yes, this is correct. It will gain an increase of 50% of power over

stock. But, 50% of 115hp is about 57hp. Adding the two would be

about 172hp and not 240hp that you have.[/i]

2) I am based in the United Arab Emirates. Do you have any

distributors here for your products? If so, would they also do the

installation of the supercharger?

We don't have any dealers in the UAE.

3) What points stipulate the warranty on the supercharger?

On the rotor pack itself.

4) What would be your best possible price for this supercharger?

$1999.95 + shipping.

If this is the case with '50%', then they are messing about with the figures, upping them when they are not that high. If I have 120bhp, and you add 50% on top, you get 240bhp. They are quoting me around 180bhp, and therefore, this means I am getting only about 30%+ increase in horsepower, and not 50%.

Something to think about still. Thanks dudes.

Mil...LOL I can see where you are coming from with your calculations, being in sales myself but it is a power gain you are calculating.....not your gross margins on a sale

120bhp x 50% = 60

120bhp + 60 =180bhp

I think you have calculated as you would a gross percentage margin ie your starting (cost) figure as a percentage of your end (Selling) figure

120Bhp / 0.5 =240BHP!

I dont think you could have them for mis-selling on this one, nice thinking though:thumbup:

Oh....wow I feel sheepish now...sales and marketing is really getting to me...

:o

120 to 240 would be a 100% increase!!!!

115 + 50% power = 115+57.5 = 172.5 hp

assuming you have the 2.0 8v mk3 gti lump.....

iirc awesome have a supercharger in stock for this that they may want to move as its not a popular lump for tuning in the UK.

120 to 240 would be a 100% increase!!!!

 beat me to it :(

Go and have a look on www.ffoc.co.uk and check out both Lee's old car (FocusZtec) and Focusbirds's cars. They were both running superchargers. Check all their info or email them to get some view on them. Lee is now on this forum with his new 4x4 Octy. I'm sure he'll give you a real 'users' opinion !
