Curious happening with a Navigon PID

Featured Replies

My 13 plate S went in for the clutch pedal click fix recently and I took my PID and put it into the 16 plate Greentech I was given as a courtesy car. Everything seemed to work well until I tried to use it as a Sat Nav. The voice instructions would not come through the car speakers, just from the PID itself, which made life rather difficult as, with general noise, it was virtually inaudible. Put it back in my car, everything normal. I didn't get or make any calls whilst in the Greentech so whether there would have been a problem there, I don't know.

Any ideas?

I don't think the S models are able to use the full facilities of the PID.

The radio and music through the SD card worked perfectly and muted when the Sat nav instructions came on.

They all have there independent volume I remember when I had mine. Next time using Sat Nav wait for the voice then turn the volume up on the head unit.

Indeed there is a volume control on the PID. Tried that on and off the car, still nothing through the car speakers.

Could be dirty contacts.

It will be the volume control on the radio not the PID.

Sat Nav,Phone,Music all have independent volumes.

Changing the volume on the radio had no effect on the volume of the sat nav. All other volumes were controlled by the radio volume control.

It's been 18 months since I sold my Citigo so forgive me if I'm incorrect.

Didn't the Navigon PID change to a different model around 12-13 plate? Was it Garmin after that, as I say I can't remember, maybe that's the problem?

My 16 plate Greentech has a Garmin PID so if yours was a Navigon that may explain it.

My upgrade from Navigon to Garmin made no effect for me. They both worked the same way. I must admit the Sat Nav useless anyway and the voice on mine wasn't constant.

Yup they changed around September 2013 - I had to specifically ask for the Garmin unit when before I picked my old Citigo up on 2nd Sept 2013.

I believe the only many difference was the Garmin had a little more RAM..?!
