Advice on stage one revo Remapped octavia vrs

Recommended Posts

Hi guys new to this..

Purchased an octavia vrs around a month ago off a vag specialist. Its been pretty well maintained and is on 149k in which i have just had the cambelt done. Basically the whole car is standard bar the remap.. I have noticed a slight jib with the acceleration when changing gears.. Would this be down to having a standard recirc valve on? And any tips on other recommended parts to change.

Regards Darren

hi there a std DV should be ok with the remap, however depends on age of DV as they start leaking and getting weak diaphragm with age. the std DV was upgraded a few years back and is a much better design now. I have a new one if needed. also a remap does tend to kill anything that is weak like DV , N75 and turbo actuators as you are running more boost. so if you don't know the age of those components good idea to replace [emoji106]

Hi thanks for the swift reply.

I am currently level 2 training in mechanics but dont know great deal about these engines. So i would rather ask experts such as yourself for advice. I think i may smoke check to see if there are any signs of visable leaks. Its does ever so slightly jib on tick over to but its not that noticeablw. I love the car so wish to csrry on maintaining it.

Since you are a trained mechanic you will be able to do a leak test to check first of all if there is any leak to the entire system (turbo, intercooler, pipes e.t.c.), and then as correctly mentioned try a new DV. The improved OEM dv has the exact part no. as your old dv but ends in 710N (Bosch part). If your car does not have this one it would be nice to change the dv, despite the result of the leak test (which 99% will show air leak).

Newest Dv is a bosch 710P

I hadn't had used OEM dv for a long time so I was a few codes back.  :D  :D  You are absolutely right but the one you wrote is for RS6 s.n. dv and the 710N I recommend is for 20vt engines. Perhaps it is better to try an aftermarket alloy dv for better results...

as above these cars are getting on so std rubber boost hoses are gona be past there sell by date on mapped VRS. Leak test is good idea. But even if ok I would start to be swapping hoses to silicon as a matter of course . Throttle and TIP being the first. Good call on removing throttle and clean with carb cleaner. They get coked up and if not done will be in a dirty state. that alone could cause hesitation . Also see if your car has been part of cool pack recall (maybe still in with a free swap with dealers) I have done a lot of guides on most maintenance for the VRS if you look up my guides in the techi section. be warned you gona spend though [emoji3][emoji106]
