knocking sound front right weel

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a horrific sound coming from the front right wheel. The service here in Romania told me that maybe it's the DSG gear box... bla bla bla

I had to change the break pads and the sound and the knocking wasn't there anymore after changing those, totally by mistake.

The issue is that after 3-4k km the sound is back.

The sound can be heard when driving and removing foot from gas pedal, or putting the car in N and letting it cruise like that.

Any idea what might that be?

Anyone had this issue before?

CV joint? Track rod end? Is the knocking constant and rhythmic or intermittent?

the knocking is constant and rhythmic but only when NOT in traction.

Had the same issue in the past and it was solved by changing the break pads. Now the pads are quasi new... so i would like to avoid changing them and rather fix the problem

Damaged/cracked brake disc?  This can sometimes sound like bearings failing on a gearbox but its actually the disc.  Can you hear it more as you drive for a while and the car warms up?
