Skoda Fabia 1.4 notchy speedometer and rev counter

Featured Replies

Hi all

The speedometer and rev counter on my fabias dashboard suddenly started becoming very notchy, but gives a correct reading nonetheless. it also makes quite a loud clicking noise when moving up or down. Has anybody encountered this before and may have an idea about what may be broken?

Both dials are driven by stepper motor which suggest there may be an electrical fault in your instrument cluster.

Thank you. Would you have any idea how much effort it would be to fix this if it is a simple electrical fault? Or if it's even worth fixing. Doesn't bother me too much to be honest.

It could be a dodgy solder joint on the back of the cluster. It's pretty easy to get the cluster out.
