150bhp Furby!?!?!

Featured Replies

Alright peeps, i have just taken the Octy RS in to the dealer as the bloody coil packs have just gone, and speaking to the head mechanic there, he says that there are rumours of a 150bhp Furby coming out, using the 1.9tdi engine again. He also said that quite a few dealerships were putting pressure on Skoda to get it released. Keep your eyes peeled people.

 Mine will be a 150BHP TDI soon - although not obviously from the factory as you imply. I'd like to know about a PD150 when it comes out... (if) - I can't see it much myself, unless they call the vRS a PD130, remove all the tarty bits, and make the PD150 a vRS...?

I had a 6 speed Golf TDi with the 150PD engine - no reason why they won't chuck it in the Fabia - physically it's identical to the 130PD unit....................don't you hate it when a manufacturer launches a top model and then almost straight away there's rumours of a better more powerful one coming out............grrrrrrrrrr...........

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

cant be true!

I think, if it happens, it will be at least two years... Perhaps Skoda UK have cottoned on to people's demands for Skodas (niki :D) and some "action" has been taken to produce a sportier super-mini? (more than the vRS..)

I'll let everyone know what a PD150 feels like, but I suppose it's the "tuneability" of that block that most will be more interested in? :drive1:

the 150 isnt as good as the 130

mechanically the only visable difference is a bigger IC.. and more tuned injectors..

but apparently its not as refined as the 130 block, and is heavier as its reinforced.

you would only get an extra 10bhp on top of what the 130 would get chipped. and unusually less torque IIRC.

I've said it before....

When i bought the Octy, i was told there was a strong rumour of a Fabia with the 180Bhp 20v Turbo engine in it..

Watch out for a possible limited edition Fabia WRC ;)

I heard there would be a Fabia WRC special also, tho no confirmation of engine.

But it'd be a bit pants if they didn't fit an engine... :p

Rob.

I posted a couple of weeks back to say that Seat are definately bringing out a couple of Ibiza's ith the 150 diesel and 180 petrol engines.

Looks like skoda won't be far behind.

a fabia with a 1.8t engine would be worth trading up to :D

a fabia with no engine wouldnt...

Would make sense to have a 180bhp petrol Furby to have a link to their WRC exploits.

I actually think the 1.8T may be too much for it, more performance than you need and a heavy block.

Something like a 1.4T or 1.6T would be possibly better. IMO

Is the PD 130 heavier than the 1.8T?

1.4T OR 1.6T would mean a new engine....or a heavily modded exiting normal atmo one i.e. adding of turbo etc....but I can understand where ya coming form.

There was talk of sticking in the newer version of the 1.8T with 190bhp into the A4 and Ibiza.

From past history I doubt Skoda's not allowed to have the new stuff.....so may be the 150 1.8T.

1.8T "4x4" would help control those 180 horses? And don't seat produce the Ibiza with a 1.8T? I'd be curious to see how they do generally, as I guess a 1.8T Fabia would be similar?

You're not thinking of how mich lighter it would though... ;)

Didn't the 1.8T come about by boring out the 1.6 to 1.8 then changing the head to 20V and putting a turbo on.

Would be easy enough to fit a turbo on a 1.6, would just require the hardware and an ECU...

Rob.

Grrrrr!!! :cussing:

Oh well, I'll have my own 190bhp Furby soon! :D

Ahhh

But with the 1.8T Engine it could have been a 230+Bhp Furby ;)

I do find it strange to hear of this rumour, and more so that the furby vRS has a PD engine in it. This country seems anti-diesel - at least from a stigma point of view. Now I love PD engines, particularly when you can get a diesel skoda (which puts two popular negatives together ;) ) which kicks ass.

But I would have thought that it's more likely to be a 1.8T in it instead. I doubt very much if the WV group will let the "cheap ex-easetern european" have what VW sees as one of the most technologically advanced engines (talking about the 1.9 150 PD).

All IMHO of course :)

If there's demand and they can make a profit on it, they'd be daft not to. And I don't think VAG are daft, especially from a business point of view!

VeeDub don't see Skoda as 'cheap' anymore,............their own new Lupo when launched is going to be the cheapest car on the UK market.......................

I had a 1.9 150bhp PD lump in a Golf in November 2000 - nearly 3 years ago, so it's hardly technologically advanced by today's standards - the car was imported from Dusseldorf a good year before the unit was available in the UK................

I've had a go in the Fabia vRS, a mate just got one and it'll run rings round the outside of my standard Octavia vRS in the twisties.............and although it's 'only' got 130bhp, the wave of torque makes it feel like a whole load more, you just gotta short shift it up the box.................

True Samster about the Lupo. What I meant was that I didn't think it would have been worthwhile putting a high perf diesel engine in a Skoda. Only the Golf gets the 150 PD in the UK (correct me if I'm wrong)

Pardon my lack of knowledge of the English language, but does that mean better at twisties than the 'Tavia or worse ? :)

Well in my experience on a twisty bumpy B road that I know like the back of my hand I'd say the Fabia vrS is significantly quicker than my Octavia vrS - both cars totally standard but the Fabia turns in better, the steering feels a bit more 'direct' and the torque's more useable.....................plus it's got a shorter wheelbase and is a lot lighter................don't get me wrong I'm still very impressed with my Octavia, it's a blinding bit of kit, for a 'cage'............LOL, but the Fabia impressed me more on first impression.............so if they give it more oooomph then it will definately be the performance bargain of the decade!

careful.. you could upset a lot of people ;)

i had a blast in my vRS on the way home now that im getting used to the handling.. its getting better and better!. altho im still not convinced by my brakes.. it takes balls of steel and some major thigh power to brake hard from 1** to 0 :D
