Citigo daytime running light

Featured Replies

Hello all, first post, first question...

I bought a base model 15 plate Citigo from a local Skoda dealer, and am wondering whether it's right that I only have a single daylight running light. It's on the passenger side. The driver side one doesn't appear to come on.

The manual mentions both "light" and "lights" so is pretty ambiguous. Does it really only have one?

No - DRL's light up both sides, either you have a bulb out or fuse

Bah. Thanks - I'll pop it in the garage next time I'm passing. Still all under warranty so at least it won't cost anything.

Most likely a bulb, less that a minute to change.

My wife's blew all the time lasting about 6 months. Replaced with LED lamps about 2 years ago and never had an issue at all.

I must pass at least 2 Up's/Mii/Citigo's a day with a DRL out.

Oh and do not bother fitting the Mtech's lamps they blow too.

Luck of the draw I guess. I had one go at about 80,000 miles and one at about 104,000 miles. I can live with that.

I'm really impressed by the fact you've taken a Citigo up to over 100k miles!

Chris's accelerated durability testing facility.

They'll go forever those little Citigos [emoji4]

Well, nothing to worry about with mine then! I'm planning on keeping it until the doors are falling off and the engine falls out, and then a bit longer [emoji14]

Well this is odd. The DRL on the driver's side doesn't come on, but the exact same bulb is also the sidelight which DOES come on when I put sidelights on.

So the bulb hasn't blown, and I can't imagine it's the fuse.

It's a dual filament type, the DRL is a 21W filament, the sidelight a separate 5W one. Only the DRL filament has blown.

That would explain it then, thanks.

To be fair the mtech bulbs got much better when they changed the design. Previously I was changing at least one every 4/5 months, but since the design change I never changed in well over a year (and lasted until I sold the car).

they dont like being switched on and off a lot i found, nowt to do with mileage. eg I do a lot of engine off at lights and jams, switching the drls on and off again and again.

I changed to leaving side lights on, which stay on... and less bulbs blown.

PS dont bother your dealer, wear and tear bulbs arent a warranty item, but they might change it to be nice.

Well, I will because I've only owned the car a week! It's still under the "Any problems at all? Return it for a full refund within 30 days" clause :)
