So I've bought a octavia and it seems it's got a few issues I didn't pick up on when I bought it

Guy said he had the mfd changed and the ecu to get it to work

So I've been driving it and the temp gauge was a little strange going up and down

I put vag com on it and the engine don't show up

The abs ain't registered and a few other things

I think it's cause the new clocks ain't been coded right but I'm not sure

The car runs and drives well

1. What are my options ie they seller don't have the old ecu but might have the clocks

2. Is this fixable and who should I be looking for to do it

3. I've seen a few post mentioning shark performance can fix can they ? And how much

Any help would be good

Can you reprogram the clock and ecu with vcd??

I'm a complete noob to all this

Normally when people retrofit maxidot they don't swap the ECU over though as it's not necessary.

Seems something isn't coded correctly perhaps.

I'm trying to figure out how I can solve this problem now car runs fine with no warning lights etc

If I'm honest I thought the maxidot cars were cr engines and my cars a pd engine so I'm unsure how it's even running tbh lol

That's if In fact it's been replaced I'm just going off what the previous owner said to me

Sounds like the immobiliser has been bypassed which would follow as your diagnostic shows no communication with it.

I'd try coding gateway correctly first and re scan.

The immo fault is due to the mileage being changed, the eeprom has a checksum error

What I meant is he said he had to change the ecu also to get the clocks to work as well as getting a ecu bridge

I was presuming he would have got a new ecu to replace and I'm sure after 57 plate the vrs went to the common rail

And I know the maxidots weren't available on there early octavia tdi vrs

The common rail came out in 2009.

Maxidot was available as an option in all Octavia 2 models from 2004 onwards except the base Classic model -- and it can even be retrofitted to those. A good friend of mine has an 06 plate PD TDI VRS,with a factory maxidot -- I was in that car just earlier today.

Changing the ECU on a maxidot retrofit is not necessary at all - I have two Octavia mark 2 PDTDIs, both of which have had maxidot retrofits, and I have not changed the ECU in either. And both show an immobiliser fault in VCDS because of the mileage correction as stated by Eddie-NL above. The immobilisers, however,do work as they should do. The yellow warning light comes on when starting, then goes off when the engine fires up on both original keys,and the engine does not start,and the maxidot displays IMMOBILISER ACTIVE when trying to start with a key blade with no immobiliser chip in it (bought to purely open the door lock should that ever be needed)

Think it was mid 2008 as mine is 58 plate with cr170 i have not seen many though.
