Stock vRS Power/Torque

Featured Replies

When I first looked over Briskoda there was a general consensus that Furby vRS's were running about 145bhp stock, this opinion appears to have changed over the months to the point where we think they're within a couple of bhp of that advertised either way. I guess this has been put down to better RR kit etc eliminating the errors caused by the tdi torque delivery.

I was wondering, has anyone bench tested a vRS engine to see what the power at the flywheel actually is (before and after remap perhaps) and what sort of torque figures are produced?

Aside from Jason & Ross anyone even had the engines out?

Mine was about 140'ish stock IIRC on Jabbas rollers.

I think air tempreture can have a big effect

mine was 144 on Jabba's rollers IIRC, but at a JBS RR day a while back most stock vRS's where pushing the realistic 130 bhp if a little less.

mine was 131.7bhp Recorded @ PECO works out 157.4bhp @the fly (b4 remap)

157bhp@ the flywheel standard?

thats what the people at peco figured.

not saying you don't get that sort of power out of a standard engine but its unlikely, I haven't had any experiance with VW group engines on a RR but have had lots of experiance with Vauxhall and ford engines, and my opinion is that very few RR's will tell you your engine is pushing out standard power.

I believe this is because they want to make you feel good about your cars results and then you are more likely to go back to the place that gave you a high reading, everyone likes to think there car was a monday morning special or one of the 'blue printed' at the factory cars

mind you I am probably wrong :)

I was told it was 157.4bhp @the fly but 131.7 at the wheels as power is lost through the clutch/gearbox etc. so skoda is right to say 130bhp standard

all manufacturers quote flywheel power, not wheel

hmmmm im confused then. the readout shows wheel. they then done a calculation to get the power at the fly.

these are the results they gave from www.cruisewirral.com

Main Results BHP Results

We all went as a group and they show the wheel power & fly

yeah thats normal

you can't get an acurate flywheel measurement without taking the engine out and putting it on a dyno

they caluclate the transmission loss by the over run

Who is to say which RR is accurate and also I'm sure different conditions on the same rollers will give different results too. e.g. 35 degrees in summer and 0 degrees in winter will give gery different results on the same rollers!

I do think that the factory 130 bhp is conservative but I guess every engine is different too to some degree which is why the factory probably states a more minimum bhp figure!

Read somewhere that vag test all their cars with an air temp at 40C. Could be wrong.
