Featured Replies

help! I cannot play the dashcam footage from my new dash cam, I bought it because I couldn't play the footage from my cheap chinese one, thinking it was rubbish... but can't play new stuff either!

they are saved as .mov files, and nothing will play them VLC movie player KM player, windows... nowt :(

any ideas?

Thanks!

.mov were quicktime movies.  Try installing that.  It might be the codecs are missing.

quicktime wouldn't play either, but sorted it... my (32gig!) memory card seems to be ****ed... tried an old 2 gig card, and it worked perfectly.

*sits awaiting GG's post re fake high capacity memory cards causing major data losses*

The cam may not support a card of that size so your card maybe fine. I would check the card in something else before you throw it away :)

This will test the cards speed and capacity against what the packaging claim it is.

Some cheap dashcams dont like class 10 cards, so if you have a high capacity class 6, you could try that. Another issue can be the formatting, most dashcams want FAT32, which M$ limit to 32MB or below; you can get around this limit using 3rd party formatting tools, as FAT32 is usable up to 2TB.

My formatting tool of choice is "AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition 6.0" a bit overkill for a memory card, but I also use its other features for my PC HDDs. and SSDs.

Just noticed - that should read 32GB or below.
