Felicia Steering Rack query

Featured Replies

Does anyone happen to know how serviceable a non-PAS rack is in the Felicias?

Mine has quite a bit of slack after 106000 miles and 18 years. I'm just wondering if there's any way of reducing it by adjustment or will it be a case of replace/refurbish?

Thanks for any advice.

How have you determined there is a slack precisely in the steering rack? What did you measure?

There is a good inch of movement of the steering wheel with weight on the wheels. Having checked the inner and outer track rod ends for play and finding none and also checking the universal joint at the bottom of the column and finding none, all that remains is the rack.

I understand, you got to that conclusion by eliminarion. Well the good news is the steering rack has a serviceable part and (with some luck) an adjustment that will bring the steering back to factory settings. I have a guide written in Word 2010 with some 30 nice photos that begs to become a guide in our forum section. Are you willing to add better descriptions to photos and publish it as a new topic? I am kind of swamped in here and have limited time. Not to mention my English needs improvements too. So what do you say?
