Oil on old heater plug

Featured Replies

Hi all I recently replaced my heater plugs due to it smoking badly when first started but I noticed on one heater plug oil, now my thinking is it's the oil that is causing the smoke when first started could this be either piston rings, head gasket or valve seals someone please give me some good news only had octy 6 wks

I'd be surprised if oil would stay around in the combustion chamber to coat a heater plug, you would have thought it would burn off

How much oil is it using?

When I got my octy 6wks ago I parked it on my drive with a slight incline towards the front of my car (front down hill) and the oil was full now the other day I was waiting for the other half to finish shopping so I checked it again and the oil was on the bottom of the dipstick mark carpark was reasonably flat now this could have been the same amount of oil just levelled its self out on the flat or is that why the last bloke got rid of it . I have just topped it up to halfway as the only oil I had was off my mk1 galaxy 10w40 this had to be vw 505.1 spec too but I'm not sure if that's the exact same needed for the octy the only thing I can do is check it again in a week in the same spot to see if it's dropping
