Getting behind the dash..?

Featured Replies

Is there a guide anywhere for taking apart the plastics below the steering column?

Does the light switch come out easily so I can have a look through the hole?

Under the steering wheel you have that largish plastic piece, a bit of brute force and it just pops right off, also open the drivers door, the plastic cover that's hidden when the door is closed, feel just at the bottom and you'll feel a hole, dig something in there and the plastic cover pops off

You can take out the headlight switch using the old VAG method of pushing it in and turning it towards the sidelight option, when you feel it's there, actually push it out from behind, don't try and pull it out as IMO it's really difficult to remove the first time round.

How come you need to have a nosy around there anyway?

Thanks for that, I'll have a play.

I want to attach a device to the OBDII port, but due to the position of the port, I'm going to use an OBDII extension cable and pop the device out of the way behind the dash.

Well, that was easy enough.

Not bad, although any serious car thief will know straight away to unplug anything attached to the obd port. Hardwiring it would be better, while still maintaining use of the obd port
