Dunlop SportBlu Response - thoughts?

Featured Replies

I'm getting some new 16" wheels for my Octavia 3 Estate. Dunlop SportBlu Response 205/55 R16 W (91) seem to have good reviews. My priorities are comfort and quietness because I'm old!

I'd be grateful for comments with possible alternatives. I'm thinking of buying from Black Circles so I'd also be grateful for comments about them.

Thanks

They seem to be getting good reviews. These or Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance would be my choice

Very happy with mine. Done 11k miles and they have loads (20-30k) life left in them.

Rotated them at 8k just for good measure.

I have tried these on my friends mk1 Vrs Octy, and up against my Efficient grip performance Goodyears, it was difficult to separate them on pure grip and performance, however, I did notice more road noise with the Dunlops (Only a few dB, but you could really notice it), so you can try and use that info for your decision if it helps. :)

Both tyres are pretty identical. As for blackcircles, just make sure the garage you choose for fitting is reputable. Always used to use 1 garage and had no problems, one day i had to use an alternative and had nothing but trouble! But usually they are a good service at blackcircles.

Just got a full set of Bluresponses in my car, it is now veeeery quiet (can't hear the tyres on a good quality road).

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll buy the Goodyear; they're a few quid cheaper than the Dunlops and seem to be much the same.

I know they were on a different vehicle, but the Goodyear's I had on my Focus were really soft and wallowy compared to the tyres it had worn previously.

The Dunlop's seem to have a slightly stiffer sidewall which feels a little more assuring when moving briskly. They are still attached to an Mk2 Octavia, so they are hardly attached to a car with stiff suspension.

Just an update - now fitted Goodyears to the new 16" wheels. Quite a marked improvement in comfort and quietness compared to the original 17" Teron alloys + Hankook tyres. The new 16" wheels/tyres are not quite as stable as the 17" but perfectly acceptable.

I fitted a pair to the front of my last car, a Citroen C5 2 litre HDI Hatch, and they where amazing .. The Citroen always was a quiet car but these where the quietest tyres I've ever had ,... Noticed an improvement in MPG even with only 2 fitted... I'd them fitted about 6 months and 7,500 miles and where looking great but sadly I lost them both in the space of a month to punctures that burst the side wall .. Something I've never experienced in my life before

Very quiet, have a lot of grip on dry and wet. At least the first year was so. Then I sold the car but I wanted to have them bought long before and enjoy them more
