H&R or Eibach

Featured Replies

Hi all,

So im looking to get some lowering springs for my newly aquired Fabia Vrs Mk2.

Can anyone tell me if there is a big difference in ride quality between the H&R 40mm front & back set & the Eibach Pro 20mm front and back set?

Any opinions on any of these ? ?

Not sure if there is much difference but I can tell you the H+R on the estate ride absolutely fine :-)

I'd get the H+R anyhow as the Eibach is only a very minimal drop. H+R will look better.

Have used both over the years but Eibach get my vote as the best all rounder, especialy matched up with Bilstein B6 or B8's :)

I also have the H&R on the estate I can't fault them better than standard

Does anyone have an image of the drop on the H&R springs?? ,

Will the standard shocks cope with the 40mm drop?

I had the eibach springs, but H&R front and rear anti roll bars :)

under some load ;)

Welcome to the forum.

How old is your vRS, and are you sure it is on the Standard Factory fit springs now and not had the dealer fit option Eibach fitted?

Thank you

Sadly the car is not fitted with them from factory

It is a 63 plate, after looking at this post the drop on the h&r seems better as it fills those monster truck arches

This actually sits nice! The aclaimed 20mm drop must be more as the H&R springs look almost identical in drop from the photos ive seen

Mine is on eibachs.

Definitely H&R for me as the true drop you'll end up with is around 35mm. And this is from someone that detests slammed cars yet the stock arch gap is huge for a supposed hot hatch, never seen anything like it on any other hot/warm variant. I fear Eibachs won't be enough if you're concerned about looks. That was mine:

Somehow I doubt it. The standard shocks get very crashy with the Eibachs, so I can only imagine the H&R's would be worse. I had to get the Bilstein B8's, but it's still a hard ride to be honest - at least 50% harder than stock.

For looks its 100% the best. I think i will look to get some h&r springs. Good offer from ECP online currently @ £129 for the set.

I did say "under some load" ;) the front is representative but the back sits higher than that when just sitting, and not hairing around a track ;)

JonFlint88,  an Estate has a different stance anyway from a Hatch. (the estate also tends to get better traction.)

Standard springs are stronger on the estate and Aftermarket different Hatch & Estate.

With the Hatch that is shorter you have Ballast Weights on the rear passenger side fitted to the crash bar.

Maybe worth removing these,

then getting your Springs and Dampers changed and a rear ARB fitted, maybe a front one to match.

I'd say the Eibach Pro springs edge it on comfort.

Damian @ DPM Performance

It's a crashy car even in stock form. The problem is that as stock is both crashy and poor-handling at the same time so you're wasting comfort for practically no gains in damping characteristics. With uprated springs and dampers you get some increase in harshness but at least you gain a lot in the way it behaves around corners and at high-speeds.

The H+R on our estate made it less crashy than stock. Also handles far better than standard. Adding a RARB was the icing on the cake so a win-win as far as we are concerned. It's still not obviously got a great ride quality though.

Swapping tyres to from the standard 205s to 215 width soon so hopefully another handling (and ride) improvement :-)

Well i must say a big thanks to everyone for their advice and input. :)

I have finally made the decision to go with the H&R and picked up a set today from my local ECP

Will get these fitted wishing the next week and hopefully report on the difference

Satisfaction guaranteed with those :p   I had them on for 8 months on stock dampers before changing to the BIlstein, not any issues than I can recall during that time.
