Apple or Droid

That's the problem with Apple. You have to use Apple systems and you're locked in to dealing only with other Apple users.

I use Microsoft one drive and Google drive for cloud, and Skype and Skype for business for video calling. I can speak to people regardless of whether they're on a Windows pc, Mac or whatever phone platform they're on.

Face time would be fine if everyone was on Apple.... But they're not

Both iOS devices and Android will have terrible battery life compared to your Windows device.  I'm in the rare position of having all 3 (Nokia 650 for work, HTC 10 for personal and iPhone 5s for faffing and used to be my old Spotify jukebox in the ol' Mazda) and each has their strengths/weaknesses:

- iPhone: If you are happy to live in Apple's walled garden, this is the choice for you.  Integration with other Apple products is faultless, Apple Store support when something goes wrong is great (they just swap it there and then!) and the user experience and app availability is second to none.  The hardware is somewhat overpriced and if you like to tinker - forget it (unless you're willing to jailbreak the device).  CarPlay is seamless but you're limited to Apples selection of apps.  You will pay for the privilege though...  Battery last a day and a half, tops.

- Android: Where Google's products are strongest is in the 'freedom of choice' department.  There are hundreds of handsets to choose from and if you don't like the OS, swap it for a different version or add in features you do like!  You can tweak everything which can be great but can also be the root of many issues (I speak from experience here!).  It's finally catching up with Apple on services like Google Pay but Android Auto is buggy and a bit of a mess in Android 6.0.  Still - the fact I can make this phone do pretty much anything I need it to with a few tweaks and hardware add-ons makes this my favourite, even if I do only get a day's use before charging.

- Windows: You already know about this.  A solid OS but is badly supported, despite the promises of better integration with Windows 10.  Will run for 4-5 days between charges though!

Android all the way, btw battery life depends on how/what you use the device for; used purely as a phone, mine will go more than a week between charges; start constantly browsing the web, or watching films and that drops to a day.

Apple deliberately screw up "standards", on holiday this year the lone IOS user WAS alone, as iBlueTooth only works with other IOS devices, and the local Internet/mobile internet was too slow to do anything, so no photo sharing. SD cart slot? No, USB OTG?? No;

Apple products are "CrippleWare".

  • For me the quality of the materials used on apple products outweigh the fact it may not be cutting edge compared to other OS, FFS I do not use my iPhone to it’s full capacity so I certainly do not nee

Android all the way for me too. I like the way you can swap files, photos, music and ringtones via Bluetooth between Android phones with ease, try doing that with iPhones. I've tried and iPhone and

Hmmm just started using the iPhone in anger now. Carrying two phones until I sort out numbers.

First impressions are that the compatibility of the iPhone with everything is great, everything plugs together nicely.

It's not a bad size the SE, bigger than I thought especially now it's in its case. Screen is nice.

It works really nicely with my Amazon Prime (big issue with WinPho). I can have hundreds of 'free/complementary' Prime music tracks downloaded for use offline. Video works well as well. Easy to restrict data to wifi only on a per app basis.

Also ties in fine with my established MS accounts. I'm quite happy with outlook and one drive so no need to change.

I've done all this without having to install iTunes, bonus!

Bad things, the iOS interface sucks balls compared to WinPho. Especially if you have fat man fingers. Also iOS doesn't let you organise things how you want on the 'desktop'. I like my icons spread to the corners to prevent my sausage fingers hitting the wrong icon. Apple insists son bunching them up and you can only change the order.

The keyboard is ****, really ****. I need to buy swype.

Can you get swype on iOS
