Yetis in The Bavarian Alps

I'm currently enjoying a week at Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps. The Yeti seems to be the car of choice here as about 1 in 10 seems to be one, with quite a lot of Panda 4x4s also. Unfortunately I'm not in mine to enjoy the twisty mountain roads. However I was surprised to be given a Golf 4motion TDI at Salzburg airport from Europcar when I'd only hired a basic car. Not a bad car now I've got used to sitting lower down again.

There's a particularly good mountain road which goes up to about 1600m which is practically empty possibly due to the 6 euro toll and is a hoot to drive. Spectacular views.

We've also been up to Hitler's Eagles Nest but that road is coaches only from Obersaltzburg. A truly fantastic experience with the last 120m being reached in the brass/copper elevator.
