uprated front ARB or stock? Subframe adjustment

Featured Replies

Hey folks.

The camber is a bit lopsided on my ibiza 6L pd100 and i either need just new droplinks or a new ARB/ARB bushes.

I think the ARB is bent, there is a bend just as it exits the bush and the paint has bulged and cracked like it's been squished.

I will try new droplinks first before anything to see if it cures a bit of knocking on both sides (other components are newish)

If it comes to it, can anyone say whether a beefier front ARB will improve handling much?

If i also get a rear ARB will that need to be even beefier than say the whiteline one? I'm not desperate to spend the money but i want to slowly do upgrades

Anyone done subframe adjustment? I'm looking at using either a load of measuring devices or laser pens or something. Seems like it will be a pain lifting it, adjusting then dropping to check alignment. I guess professionals will use something they can slide the wheels around on?

With adjustments to the subframe are the locating pins of any use?

Thanks for any help!

I bought a (v. cheap) set of the locating pins recently, believing that they were to centralise the subframe if it is thought to be necessary. Having looked at them in the flesh though, it seems to me that what they are really for is re-fitting the subframe in the same position it last was, after any removal. So I don't think they'll help you in this case.

Thanks Wino

the ones ive used are smilar to wobble bolts, sort of an outside taperd edge that goes central as you tighten the bolt up.
