Rear screen retrofit for columbus

Featured Replies

Hi, I have been looking into getting a rear screen for the young 'un to watch things on when on long journeys and figured it would be nice to use the columbus to output video to it seen as that would utilise the cars speakers and not some tinny in built speakers on a stand alone system.

I have seen a few adaptors on ebay but has anybody else gone down this route that can recommend any hardware? I've had a quick search about and couldn't find anybody that had done any sort of 'how to' guide on it.

Its not going to be a permanent install at this point because I don't want to start splicing into the cars wiring for power so I will probably just use the 12v socket to power any converters by running the wires down the back of the dash and into the footwell somehow.

If its going to be a total ball ache i'll probably just end up getting an Ipad bracket but just wanted to put some feelers out

Thanks, looks like Kufatec are a reliable brand that have a solution.

I was going to suggest similar Delboy.... I bought a Griffin headrest case for the little 'uns iPad which fastens to the headrest and I leave in the boot of the car for when required. Then he just plugs his headphones in to the iPad and watches his TV programs or movies that way while we have the radio etc.... on the Columbus.

We use Tragus mounts in ours. They are a universal fit and strap around the headrest. It means that the wife can remove them to adjust something whilst driving.

They are nice and secure too with no movement. They also feel nice and solid. I tried several before this and they all broke in around a year.

I also have a quad 8A USB charger and 3m long USB cables to fit in the back. Both ours use headphones rather than us having to listen to them!
