I think the wiring to the tailgate on my estate may be degrading - possibly near the hinge.

 

When the boot is shut everything seems to behave, except recently sometimes the rear wiper doesn't work. When I open the boot beyond 15 degs or so the boot lights cut out, and then a strange growling noise happens and various lights come up on the dash - sometimes brake light failure warning though all bulbs are fine.

 

Anyone had anything similar?

 

Assuming I will end up getting a new boot loom - but not sure why the interior boot lights are affected....

Never had this issue myself, but the boot lights take their signal from the boot latch, so if you have wires broken they might not see the signal. Check the multiplugs behind the cd changer left hand side as washers are prone to leaking there corroding the plugs.

Found the problem...

 

Now just need to fix and tape the cables, find a part code for the cable harness and re-thread it!

 

Anyone got a part number?
