Hello new Felicia owner

Featured Replies

Hello

Just bought my self a 1995 felicia 1.3 glxi with genuine miles of 40 thousand and change.

i must say i do like my older cars and this is a lil gem. Dont think i will win any speed trials in it but thats the charm.

I did have use of a favorit many many moons ago and i think that this feels a lil more refined.

I did pay a bit to much maybe at 350 but such low miles and keepers 2, the later only a year.

Full Mot and clean inside and out i am happy.

There are a couple of things that i will have to address in the future.

rear ride height. Not sure why but it does look low however i am not sure is this is how it is ment to stand?

Also a live wire from fuse box to radio has got very hot at one point and melted the coating so i have removed it to be safe and i under stand that these cars are constant live!! and a slight blow on the exhaust what makes a whistle like a turbo spool but with out the thrill

Anyway all part of the fun.

Cheers

hi, felicias are such nice cars i love em, treat her well:) such low miles are hard to find nowadays.

usually the springs can affect the ride height

Also a live wire from fuse box to radio has got very hot at one point and melted the coating so i have removed it to be safe and i under stand that these cars are constant live!!

Every car has "constant live" parts of electrical system. Not sure why you find that odd.

Nice one buddy same color i got. loved it.

and yeah like Jonnycilia said the springs effects and try to put rubber buffer.

"Anti-theft" coded radios normally have a constant live (but the draw should be milliwatts).

Exhaust - From what you've said I suspect a joint isn't quite sealed right. It won't do any harm to have a look, and if you see some pinholes wrap that section in an exhaust bandage,

Hi DavyP and congratulations to a good looking Felicia!

Most radio units today have a 'double feed' - one permanent that keeps your preset stations in place (and the anti-theft code, I guess, if you have such luxuries), one switched for the rest (red and yellow, can't remember which one is which). On the Felly both the red and yellow are permanent which might cause battery drain if you leave your car for a few days! On my unit, for instance, the on/off button has a LED light which shouldn't be gleaming when I remove the key. With old radios this never happened: when they were turned off they were turned off proper.

Two alternatives: the more elegant is to get a switched live wire (remove the glovebox insert and you'll find the central loom).  Or (as I have done) mount an extra switch button on one of the wires attached to the ISO contact - should be the one that goes to pin A7 on the radio side. I've mounted the button on the side of the center console.
