I keep getting an intermittent misfire on my vrs,

I have had it into skoda twice for them to look at and twice they have said they cannot find any faults, it's not storing any codes atall and every now and again when it happens some time the eml light flashes then goes out and some time it doesn't come up atall!

It's really annoying me and wonder where I stand because they keep saying they cannot find nothing!!

?

Did they not tell you at the Service Desk, or call out a Technician to tell you that Misfires might not be stored as a fault code if there are not enough in a cycle, yet a spark plug on the way out might cause misfires?

So have the Spark Plugs been checked?

How old is the car, how many miles, and have the spark plugs been changed?

Is it standard, no BOV or the likes?

Car is 2013, 21,500 miles

No BOV

Exhauste cat back and forge induction

Had the plugs changed to ngk ones ( cannot remember the part number) and they where gapped correctly

Have plugged it in now and it's coming up as p0301 witch is a pending code if I remember correctly and it's a misfire on cylinder 1?

So i suppose that the Techs checked the spark plugs again, the Ignition Coil, the injector and any sensors.

You are left in their hands to find out the issue.

Try and find the part number for the NGK plugs you bought or paid for and ask what the gap was set at.

Odd how often those with Forge Induction have issues.

You would expect that if fitted correctly, & no leaks then all would be well,

sadly with FORGE on a Twincharger that is often not the case.

The plugs I got are the one that revo recommend on there stage one map and there gapped at 0.6 and the forge was fitted with no leaks as everything is tight,

If it was a problem with the induction would it only show up as a cylinder 1 misfire

Have you got a REVO map on it?

No I havnt

Cant have a REVO map since they kept saying they had done one for a CTHE and had not until more recently.

Best get the spark plug out at the very least Cylinder 1 and inspect it very closely, or maybe close inspection will not be required if there is a serious failure with it.

Stick in 4 OEM plugs at 0.7mm gap or better still DENSO and see where things are with your car.

Might be worth taking the Forge off and seeing if the problem goes away. That intake doesn't have a good reputation on here. Some have found it actually restricts airflow compared to stock and reduces power :-(

Ok will get skoda to have a look and I might as well just upgrade to the vwr induction

I have got the air box but the oil breather pipe I snapped so would have to buy a new part for that and got no filter but that's not to expensive

Someone would have one kicking around maybe.

Was the car standard when you got it and you had the Cat Back exhaust and Forge Intake fitted.

When did you first get a misfire?

  • Author

Yeah it was starndard when I got it and January originally but then didn't happend after I got the plugs recapped then just happe d's recently again

Was it NGK bkr7eix  you fitted or was it 8's. ?

Some only get 5,000 miles out of them.   REVO might recommend them, but they are sh!te really.
