Was wondering if my turbo is on its way out. Used to start boosting at around 1800 rpm and it now doesn't start boosting at 2500 rpm and there is a little bit more black smoke. Car is 2005 mk1 vrs done 118,000 miles and still on the standard turbo. Any help greatly appreciated 

I suspect you more likely have a boost leak ... the extra black smoke is the give way along with needing more rpm's...

Near enough same as mine as said previously it's a boost leak most likely

Mine had similar problems but no black smoke (that i noticed). Turned out to be a bad maf sensor.
