Another aircon thread

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of selling my Roomster in the not too distant future as I have a company car that has rendered it redundant and it doesn't get used save for me making sure I drive it every week or two to keep everything in good order.

A few weeks ago I noticed that the air conditioning wasn't remotely cold so took it for a re-gas at KwickFit on their automated machine- they said it had no leaks and that it was now blowing nice and cold, which it was - I took it for a 40 minute drive to make sure. But then I didn't drive it for 2 weeks. Now I notice I don't have any cold air -It's obvious I have a leak somewhere and I'm assuming KwickFit will tell me to get lost as it's been 3 weeks.

Are there liable to be any tell tale signs of a leak like oil residue and where do I look? I assume the condenser is attached to the radiator and faces the front of the car and is there an inter-cooler below that?

I'm loathed to spend a lot of money if I'm selling the car as I doubt it's worth much money (former Cat D) although in good condition and lowish mileage otherwise

Will need filling with oxygen free nitrogen and tracing the leak with a bubble solution.

Back in the day we used to add a UV dye to the gas and look around the engine bay with a lamp to look for the obvious leak

Not sure people still do this

I have a similar problem, can you advise whether changing the condenser is a DIY job?
