Have now done just over 12,000mls from new (got car in July) and was wondering when to expect a service. I have had to top up the oil with approximately 1.5 litres, is this normal (I used Castrol Edge 5W-30). Would appreciate your experiences and when I can expect that dreaded first service reminder!!

My car has just started asking for a service. 16k miles since the last one.

Mine came up at 17k miles do about 1500 a week half of which are motorway , since the first service fuel consumption has got better still .

IIRC, the vRS can go up to 20k between variable services. If you've been topping up with a recommended oil and don't do a lot of short journeys you should be able to get quite close.

Chrissi's car has always been serviced at Chichester Steve, they seem to have the edge on the other two garages local to us in terms of price and the level of service has been ok.

Mine will be due it's first soon so I'll have to see about booking that in.
