Damo's 1 Litre Road Eater™

Hi Guys

Traded my Megane Coupe in for a VW Up! to share with my daughter who is close to passing her test.

I had a Citigo previously and enjoyed it immensely, so looked at getting one again as they are so low to insure and will be a great first car for her to start off with.

At my local garage (where I have bought my last few cars from) they had a lovely VW Up! so went for a look, struck a good deal on the Megane px and the deal was done.

Absolutely chuffed to bits with it, it really is exceptionally clean.

The colour is called Pool Blue, even though it looks white from a lot of angles until you get it in a certain light and you can see the blue pigment.

Apparently, its quite rare, and we love it. Just strange the DVLA class it as Blue on the V5

It is the Move Up! model and is pretty basic, but does have some extras over the base model, including (thank god) a full size spare.

Love the variable boot floor too, makes it very neat and tidy, with all my junk stored underneath out of sight.

Unfortunately it didn't have a PID as standard, so I have just bought a Seat version one off ebay for £100 as I can't be doing without sat nav, hands free calling etc.

Already put my dash cam in, and I plan to upgrade the poor front speakers to components in the weeks to come.

Other than that, its staying standard, so she can get insured on it... and I will keep it looking as clean as it does now.

In the meantime, I got insured for a mere £175 fully comp for the year, only £20 RFL and I'm looking forward to the 55+ mpg too!

When she is earning more money, and can afford to run it herself, its hers, but until then its ours.

Cheap motoring in a buzzy little go cart that my daughter will be able to get insured on, meaning I don't have to drive her to work and pick her up at 9PM three times a week = win win :)

First couple of mods done.

As its the Move UP! it didn't come with the Portable Infotainment Device as standard, but thankfully the contacts were there under the blanking plate, meaning all the wiring was in place if specced.

Managed to get a second hand PID from eBay for £100 (£300 from VW)

It was from a Seat Mii, so did a full factory reset, and as soon as I installed it in the car, it changed to VW

Its a good bit of kit, with Navigation, hands free phone with voice dialling etc, SD Card for music, all the info from car, such as trip computer and graphics for doors open and so on.

Also got a leather steering wheel from a High UP! model (again off ebay for £80) as the Move UP! only has a horrible grey plastic wheel. It has the same Gloss black as the dash, and a little insert with the logo on the bottom.

So much nicer.

Next up is some TT Pedals.

Very productive day today

Spent just over 7 hours giving the car a much needed winter clean.

Washed, clayed, washed sealed and waxed with 2 coats of Carnauba Wax

Saving the machine polishing for the Spring, as its not too bad.

First time since purchasing Ive had the time to give it a good proper clean.

The bonded on contaminants were the worst I've come across.

Luckily the missus gave me a hand with the claying, and buffing off the wax (She's a star! smiley10.gif)

The results as you can see in the pics are really worthwhile, the paint is really glossy again.
