Grrrr not a good start to the new year!

Featured Replies

Started off badly wen i had to get up at 9 on new years day to give the missus a lift to work, but i knew i had to do that, so wasn't so bad. Then started to eat my loverly fry up, sausage basically exploded and ruined my brand new jumper (subject to possibly being washed out, unlikely tho im told) Then thinking this year couldn't get much more ****e, some silly bint reversed into me.

What the hell she thought she was doing i have no idea! Kind of trying to reverse round a corner, but i was at the junction so she just scrapped down the side. Hopefully will be an easy one for the insurance companies as i got her t sign a bit of paper basically admitting liability.

Not good, but looks easily repairable.

Spare a thought for the guy I saw on New Years day in his Porsche 911 that happened to be half way up a grassy bank with the front end smashed in!! OOOFFFFF!

Yeah nothing structural by the looks so shouldn't be too bad - stil a pi$$er though.

Make sure you are completely happy with the colour match before you accept it back and instst on a replacement car at her expense.

Yeh i know silver is a bit of a bummer to match properly, is there any tips on spotting it, or is it just a case of taking a mate with good eyes to double check it with me? Insurance company said i should get a replacement, and im guna make sure its not a chinky-chento, its gotta be the same size or bigger!

Make sure you look in good daylight and at several angles.

Makes you wonderhow many of these people are still pi55ed from the night before!

Make sure your happy with the company thats going to do the work as the insurers often use "Approved" read companies that they have deals with, to do the work.

In my experience these are not always the best (some are terrible). When an independent insurance assessor came to check my bike after 6 months of rejecting it following an approved repair he said he had been to the RAC and insurance approved repairers and "I would not let them repair my wheelbarrow".

When a bus smashed my golf up they wanted to trailer it 50 miles to a repairer when we have loads within 5 miles.

Would be a nightmare to take back if anything was wrong. They would bring it back on a trailer dump it on the drive way and it yours again. Then you have to try to get the insurers to do something if your not happy.

If the cars not right you should not accept it back.

Sorry about the rant but I have had more then a few problems with this sort of thing before and dont want anyone else to fall foul of this.

You have the right to get it repaired by a company of your choice but you will need to gather the quotes yourself and get the insurers to agree to the price.

Insurance companies make me

Also it's usually the repairers who sort out the courtesy car for you (and just add it to the insurance co's bill). Some have their own, some hire, some hire if their's are all out. So might pay to prearrange with them what car you want.

And me. :agree:
