Wax on plastic trim.

Featured Replies

On my mk3 Monte Carlo I've got wax on the dark grey, unpainted, textured(?) plastic trim bellow numberplate. I thought I'd got rid of it. But I'm still seeing whitened areas where I'm presuming the wax is trapped in the 'texture' of the plastic. If that makes sense?

Anyone recommend best way to remove this, also a good product to use on that type of bodywork trim when detailing car?

Thanks

If a school rubber doesn't work, try some peanut butter.

Treatment wise, I'd go for a semi permanent coating product. I used Gyeons trim coating with good results on a friends BMW X6. Available at polishedbliss.co.uk

Hope this helps buddy.

I usually use a toothbrush/nail brush and diluted APC (depending on the area) then treat with your chosen plastic gloss/protector :)

As above - the stiff brush technique works pretty well;

especially if the wax has had time to really dry out and go hard.

Failing that - the school eraser trick works well also.

Never tried the peanut butter method as yet....

Let us know how you get on.... :thumbup:
