Its not a race mate. :D

Glad you have it sorted though, should be a fun day out looking at the cars attending, a couple from Blackpool too.

I know I said the list of jobs was bigger than I thought but

  • New Windscreen Required
  • 4 x Alloy Wheels & Tyres (old ones buckled)
  • Rear shock absorber top mount bushes need replacement
  • New Battery
  • New Cambelt
  • Service
  • O/S/F Outer CV Gaiter Split
  • O/S/F Inner V Gaiter Split
  • Steering Column bushes require replacement
  • Exhaust need replacement
  • Underseal needs peeling off(whats left) and new applied
  • Interior needs stripping
  • Bodywork needs sorting

All apart from replacing the screen I can do myself, but it will take time :o

And jeesh the price of a corrado screen

I agree.... but we all know nobody wants to get burnt off by a skoda.

Should be fun especially as anglesey is nice and short and tight (bar school) so will suit swb cars.

cant wait now... just a few little cosmetic jobs - stickers and stuff and a bit of exhaust refinement and we should be well prepared for a fun day..

who's the animal behind the wheel?

Certainly one of the muppets, more Fozzie than Animal though :haha:

Thats for me you see, so much hot air and BS I talk, I'll warm the water up and it will never mist up due to the condensation freezing from Iceman Paul, it was Iceman you said you wanted wasn't it?

sorry missed out the to be or not to be bit :P

Any how, I think you should let Jon drive it...afterall it's only a little bit more than a set of wheels and tyres

You can drive my half Jon...just need to get a new steering wheel, Paul suggested this one for me, I agree as LHD we can put a proper engine in it, becasue I'm fed up doing the leg work in mine...

My car doesn't have an ego, it's a skoda, and it's a diesel. And I will be lapping YOU. :D

Unless its raining, in which case i'll be towing you off the grass.

Track courtesy and etiquette will be shown, and expected at all times.:D

Joking aside, i'm looking forward to it. I hope the fellow briskodians on the provisional list manage to get a place too.

Just one thing though, with you having a BMW, how am I going to know it's safe to pass? With it having no indicators?

  • 2 weeks later...

Ive been making final preparations today, for my track day tomorrow.

Got two packs of marlboro, and some pop and crisps.

Should see me lapping that BMW nicely tomorrow.:D

Got two packs of marlboro

Thought u had stopped?

ignore this post, I messed up! oops! :D

Thought u had stopped?

haha! I thought that too

was a good day, even though I was terrified when I drove on the track! hehe!!

me john and nicola decided we should have made a 'who's VRS??' banner! :D

and now I've buggered up my post by trying to change my colour!! d'oh!

Well, what a good day Angelsey was. One or two nutters to chase around, mainly a pug 205, who must have hurt from laughing, he was having a ball. Lift off oversteer through every corner :D

The BMW was on form, and my car performed very well, the rear arb making a massive difference from my last visit.

Colin G made me crash twice,

I was experimenting with driving styles ;) and went sraight on at hillrise, so a good value day, with a bit of rallycross thrown in for free.

The other time, cold track tyres + provoking lift off oversteer = massive spin off on to the grass :D

By the end of the day, school corner was almost as fast as the car would go, which is a good 20 mph over what I would have gone into it without the arb.

Can't wait for the next one.

Shifty, did you run 4 track tyres or just 2 on the front. Sounds like a great day out.

According to the nokia stop watch and the white line on the track  Shify was lapping around 58-59 sec.

I had four on mate for most of the day, but changed to just two later.

Kumho V70A Soft (k6a) on the back and Hard (k9a) on the front.

Swapped the soft to the front, and put road tyres on the back, and it felt just as good, and lift off oversteer was possible, (arb fitted) and very controllable, not the case with all four track tyres on. Grip Grip Grip, no grip, spin :D .

This was my first outing with the arb, so I ran the same tyres combination as without. I can honestly say that road tyres will do just as well at the back, and I will run the hard compounds at the front next time too.

Need an LSD next, and a hybrid :D

Need to sell some more chips first :(

According to the nokia stop watch and the white line on the track  Shify was lapping around 58-59 sec.

Risky that method, very risky, the timed cars would be kicked off if seen.

Was a good day, the warm up lap was fun following the GT2 and observing it's tendancy to squirm. Given that was my first driving of the BM on track and about 20 miles beofre that, I was getting worried.

20 mins later after Paul had been out and caught her a few times it was my turn...slow in slow out :D But I didn't spin so things were on the up.

We'd gone with road tyres, I guess in part as they are safer for me, slicks would grip and grip and then bang nothing. As I'm trying to break the habits and some are bad of FWD drive, this sudden loss would be dire for me. So roady's and of course the weather said it would rain, but road tyres are good for progressive learning... Highlight of the first session, keeping a couple of the integras honest and making about three car lengths on one through school :D

So next session I'm out and deciding to go fo it a little more, still scared whittless of stuffing it...a little better initially and a few laps later better still, even in my own mind, confidence began to appear, as did the little 205. Managed to stay ahead for a few laps then decided to follow, which actually based on the vid camera netted me a 58.2 lap...which for road tyres and 20 mins RWD driving on track I'll take with a whiskey and a cigar.

Towards the end of the day I was getitng a bit of understeer and the odd moment of traction loss, this was despite braking very early and being quite slow on the throttle, I just didn't want it to bite me on the first day, a bit of setup will cure that eventually.

All in all a fab day out, I might let Paul get some slicks now, as it was bit tame for him...ho hum :D

The ride in the Fabia was good, but it's scarily high when you've been sitting on the floor of the BM strapped down....somehow the traditional belt feels very weak and I'll fall out of the window soon :)

Power was good, the torque suiting that track very well, definitly neesd the front tightening up compared to how my octy feels through those sections, but thats the weight of the block, I guess you have the advantage that your rear will move more with lift, whereas mine at the moment is neutral and takes a brutal lift and lock to move it.

Overall a good day and it got home without loosing too much more oil or dampers

Dave, what speed were you going into school? Curious, as I know what my SDI goes in at (98.8 on the GPS).

Glad you enjoyed it Col, heard all about it from Paul. Hopefully I can come and play next time.......
